Hi all, Im just curiuos I saw on a website that the 2009 poverty guideline for two people is 14,570 is this true if so ill be soo happy if not than my hopes are up

Moving this to consulate/embassy forum, the poverty guideline is used with the affidavit of support (I-134) at the time of visa interview at the consulate, not when initially filing an I-129F

Great & strange USA....in such a economic downfall, the country is making the poverty line higher every year ... Plus USCIS is following the Govt , automatically as 125 % needed by all applicants from 17,500 to 18,212.5 ...... bringing more & more misery for all. Great

and the 125% of the poverty guideline is used in all spheres of AOS... I-134, I-864, I-864EZ etc etc

That sucks. According to my taxes W2 I made it by about $200. Should I start moonlighting now?

right Waldo ...............and people are so accepting ..... my wife was already making below 125% of poverty line but she was above the original poverty line. To suffice we had to get a House Tenant to add it to ours. The 125% stuff its really ####### ! And when people are gare getting laid off their 18-20 yrs job, govt is raising the poverty line and automatically 125% stuff is increasing. I hoped Obama wd give a fresh good start... well NO !!

Do you know if all three past tax years need to be above the 125%?

Waldo as far as i know ..... the present one and more perfectly your current income is what matters. Our 2007,2005,2006 amounts are all under the 125% stuff but above the original poverty level. BUt our current one is above 25k. so thats wht matters.

Sigh, I was pulling out some of my old W2 to see what I got. I started working when I was 14 and my parents claimed it. Jerks!

I'm glad to hear that because up until the airline job I didn't even make 125% for one person.

And i think USCIS has made it intentionally very very complex .............. if you go to their site, its like a puzzle. Thanks to Visajourney where people have so much experience and ready to help. I however dnt understand where from they figured out the figure 125%, and why the hell wd it be necessary. ANyway I am not an economit but the idiotic move of tormenting people in such a bad economic condition really pisses me ........... what are people supposed to do ?? Then last week i read some man killed his whole family after getting laid off. See this yahoo video :
