After you send in your petition, you will get a Notice of Action (NOA1). If you've send a check then you will be able to obtain the receipt number on the back of the check once cashed. Otherwise, you will receive the hard copy through the mail. Once you've received this number you are then able to log onto the USCIS website and sign up for updates on your case. If you do this, you will receive your NOA2 notice via email.

In the interim, your fiance does not have to do anything until you receive the NOA2 then you can both start preparing for the interview. :guides: it has everything you need to know there..

In the interim, your fiance does not have to do anything until you receive the NOA2 then you can both start preparing for the interview. :guides: it has everything you need to know there..

Thus is where many applicants make a HUGE mistake and delay their case for months and months and then complain it takes too long.

When you filed the I-129f you should immediately, if not before, download the packet 3 for her consulate. Neither she nor you should WAIT for anything at this point. You do not have that much time until your petition is approved. She should be gathering all the documents she will need for the interview, and you also. She needs a police certificate and it needs to be translated. She will also have to submit marriage, divorce certificates, absent parent letter or court order of sole custody (if she has children) and it all will have to be translated. Do you have all this now? No? Then don't be waiting around, get it now! You need to be preparing the documents you will need? Are your taxes done for 2008? Have you reviewed what you need for the I-134? Will you be able to provide all the supporting documents you need?

DO NOT WAIT for the NOA2 or the packet 3 to be sent from the embassy. My wife already has her green card and we have yet to receive packet 3. Do not pay any attention to the useless USCIS website. They list our petition as "received and pending". She has arrived, we are married and have completed the AOS process....but we are "received and pending" at the USCIS!!!!

At this point, or any....do not wait! When you finish the interview documents, BEFORE you receive your NOA2, start on the AOS documents, then when she arrives you will attach the I-693, copy of her I-94 and your marriage license and it is DONE. Mail it off the day after your wedding.

Do it this way and the minute the case arrives at the consulate (about 3 weeks after your NOA2) you can make your interview appointment.

thanks....btw does the foreign fiancee only have an interview or do i hav one also?

Only she does for the visa. You can attend but it isn'tecessary and they will not ask you anything. At ours they didn't ask her anything either. At the AOS you will both go for an interview and it is possible you will bth be interviewed. At our AOS they asked my wife some routine questions they ask all applicants, they didn't ask me anything. But for the AOS you MUST be present.
