Going to Hcmc for 2nd visit - to do list?

Hello folks,

All things considered, from the advice I've received here and my own reading, I thought it was best to go for a 2nd visit to help substantiate our relationship and hopefully make it easier for Hao to get a visa. Of course I am very much looking forward to seeing my fiancee again but I am not rich and my vacation time at work is almost gone. Still we thought this was for the best.

So I will be in Hcmc from March 1st-10th. We have planned a engagement party and we'll be sure to take tons of photos there and with her family, at her house, etc.

I will also save tickets and itineraries.

Is there anything else we can do? Is there any official paperwork we can take care of at this time?

We have the I-129F in and have received the NOA1 but don't expect to have the NOA2 until late April at the earliest.

Thanks for your help, and if you're in Hcmc at this time lets do lunch.

cheers,

Tom

ps. Cathay Pacific is having a deal on flights to asia, the price was good but what really sold me was the travel time. 20.5 hours from JFK to Hcmc! I'm used to seeing anywhere from 24 - 29 hours.

I think you're very lucky. I flew Cathay Pacific one time, and I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, the only reason I got to fly them is because there was a huge storm in Taiwan, so my China Air Lines flight there was cancelled.

At any rate, it sounds like you've got the basics covered. Will you have anyone from your family there, or are you the Lone Ranger? I was lucky to have my parents, my sister, and her husband at my Lễ Ăn Hỏi. Quite aside from the good evidence it provided, it gave our families a chance to meet each other and truly appreciate how special our "accidental" meeting was.

Smart move making another trip. Not only a "fun" thing to do but definitely gets "points" with the COs.

You can also take any paperwork necessary for the interview. Make out a updated Intent to marry also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You had me worried, but Asiana smoked Cathay's price for my flight. It does take 40 hours for mine though. I'll be there from February 25th to at least April 2nd. We'll be in Saigon for a week or so starting on March 2nd. We have to make the trek to Cai Be first. There's going to be a few of us over there it looks like. Coffee with a few VJer's sounds good.

Yeah, that's a good deal. Look's like you'll be gone by the time I get there though. Enjoy your time with you loved ones!

Thanks for all the advice. Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you.

What sort of paperwork is needed for the interview? Do you mean the papers that prove I can support her? Tax returns, bank statements, etc?

Coincidentally my sister's mother and father in law are going to be in Hcmc the very night that we're having the Dam Hoi March 3rd, they are on a long cruise in the area and Saigon is one of the stops. I'm sure anyone looking at the Dam Hoi photos would see this older couple and assume that they are MY mom and dad and that can only help the cause. :)

Hao and I are going to have the party then get out of town the next day and go to Con Dao from the 4th - 7th to relax. I should be around Hcmc most of the 7th and the 9th if someone would like to meet for a drink.

thanks again,

Tom

You could also bring over as many of the original/certified documents (Birth Cert., divorce decree, etc) as you can so that you're not spending tons with Fed Ex to ge them there later.

You can go on the HCMC consulate website to see all the docs needed for submission there.

And bring multiples when you can. Just in case something happens. Better to bring them back when she comes then have to rush a replacement over.

Have a great trip. We are both anxious to go back later this year.

Signing in does just that. It also was nice for my fiancee to see where it was and maybe help calm her some. It didn't help her calm down though but it did show the consulate I was there and I did ask some questions that I passed along to Trang. Some girl told me pretty much the procedure where she would go and some things. Everyone was so nice to and professional. I even afterwards sent a email to the consulate saying so and thanks for being that way. It was also a nice area and felt very safe to walk around. Lol.
