Man its quiet around here...

Well we are 34 hours away from our interview (not that I'm counting or anything). We have both been burning brain cell's and the midnight oil to get everything ready. Its coming together but we will be going right to the wire with this. Hopefully Chada was able to get Wednesday off. If not I don't see how she's going to make everything happen. I am thrilled to get the chance to interview but when I think about how many people could go from sending packet 3 to an interview with 2 days notice it blows my mind. I feel very fortunate we got everything completed on my last trip / pre NOA2 in March.

We will be getting feedback from someone who is doing a K1 interview tomorrow and I will be sure to let everyone know Thursday morning how our turned out. Hopefully our interview debriefs on VJ will be of help to some others.

But when you sent in the packet 3 you told the embassy (form DS2001) that you had all documents and were ready for the interview!

Good thing you didn't wait for packet 4 before getting the medical exam!

Good Point! I think we were lulled to sleep thinking we had another 2 - 4 weeks after the embassy sent packet 4 or an email.

Is it possible to go to the embassy and ask if they received the documents or is only emailing permitted? I know they received mine on May 23rd due to sending it registered mail but they have chosen to lie that they haven't even though I have the tracking number and know who signed for it. I don't care about whatever stupid reason they have for lying, probably to mask their incompetence, I just want them to acknowledge they have it.

Keep in mind that just because the packet is inside embassy grounds doesn't mean it is where it needs to be. I think many work this way. At the NVC it can take up to two weeks for them to add things to your file, after they received it. Just remember you know it is there and soon enough they will get it in their system. It seems BNK is speeding up so hopefully you will soon get the confirmation and the interview assignment.

Danny, congratulations.... that is exciting. Perhaps there really has been a shortage of interviewers and they found people to start right away and can schedule the unscheduled interviews. I guess we can only hypothesize. You guys are totally prepared. Our interviewer wasn't interested in much but the photos. I think I killed a tree but he didn't look at anything besides our photos. So don't stress if you don't get some things printed out... just work on the photos.

Ron, we are in Michigan, we came via Chicago but we both got sick and so weren't much fun for the week we were there. Now we are freezing in the Michigan spring. We haven't made much contact with any other Thai people. My husband is satisfied with the online newspaper for now. We just dug up a plot of land to plant some vegetables at our new place. Our stuff arrives tomorrow so we will finally be moving into our own place. My poor husband we have been staying with family and friends... mostly people he didn't previously know. I think after 1 month in the US he is more than ready to have our own place.

I am so excited for all of your interviews. Another piece of advice I heard that my husband felt was relevant was that the interviewers are on a power trip. So just go with it. Vent, rebel, whatever after you have the visa in your passport. So tell your SO's to try to be patient and humble and if the interviewer is rude so be it. As daboyz said you can go in prepared for the worst and it will only be a sweet surprise if it is otherwise.

I can't wait to hear more good news.

Sorry for another post. Because I packed all my documents away I won't be able to get to them for a while so I thought I would ask here. When is the social security number supposed to arrive by? What was the time period after which we could go to the office ourselves? We have been here a month and still no GC or SS# have arrived.

Still no response from the BKK embassy whether they got my package or not. This whole process has made me full of rage! I hate the feeling of being at the mercy of complete ineptitude.

Have you emailed them yourself, or have you been using a lawyer as a proxy?

The embassy seems to be very responsive at times, and other times emails go completely unanswered. No idea why this is. At one point, the visasbkk2 mailbox was full (within the last month or 2), so they probably don't have enough people to even respond to all the emails (even though this is their preferred method of communication).

Not sure there is much else you can do other than keep emailing them. I think of all the emails I have sent them over the past couple months, about 75% have been answered, and of those about 65% or so have been responses that were useful. I've actually found the people answering my emails at the embassy more competent than USCIS operators, but that isn't saying much.

I agree though I'll feel better when they say yes we have it. It's always possible something got lost. At least if they acknowledge reciept I know the countdown to interview has begun. Right now I might just be wasting time.

We just learned something new on the Thai forum. If you got your medical early and its time for one of the booster vaccinations you have to get that done before you get the visa. Chada is working till 8pm tonight and will have to go to Bumrungrad do that when she gets off. She picking up the 200 photos of our trips today at noon. After that all that is left is to study the documents, interview questions and make the appointment.

Chada is working till 8pm tonight and will have to go to Bumrungrad do that when she gets off. She picking up the 200 photos of our trips today at noon. After that all that is left is to study the documents, interview questions and make the appointment.

So are they going to unseal the medical, add it to the form and then reseal it? Just curious. That sounds fishy to me.

We got the SS card about 10 days after POE, and the green card about 1 month after POE. You can use the 1 year I-551 stamp in the passport as the same thing as a green card.

We got the SS card about 10 days after POE, and the green card about 1 month after POE. You can use the 1 year I-551 stamp in the passport as the same thing as a green card.

To add to that, even though I changed my address with NVC, they still sent both the GC and the SS card to the address I used when I filed the I-130 with USCIS. Not sure if you haved changed addresses or not.
