sputum test

hi there:) hope everythings ok with u and your family, i have few questions here, hope someone out there can help me...i just got my medical result at SLEC yesterday and im sad because i have to undergo on sputum test, will start on 3 consecutive morning from feb 9-11. this is due the abnormal results they found on my xray, thou i presented them my clearances frm the lung center it seems that they dont care about that. i had history of ptb year 2003 but succesfully treated after 6 months of medications. my interview date will be on feb 10 but they said they will take care of it.

my questions are to those who had this kind of test before, after the 3 days of sputum and got negative result, do u still go for the sputum culture and wait 8 weeks for the result or if all the test turns out negative no need for the sputum culture?

I am in the same situation,am just done my 3 days consecutive morning for my SMEAR sputum test last january 26-28 and went back to SLEC janaury 29 for the PULMONARY EVALUATION and for the result of that 3 days smear test and mine turns out negative,but then again have to wait for 2 mos for the culture result....Even the SMEAR test turns out negative you still have to wait for 8 weeks because of the culture result...

Yes.. you still need to wait 8 weeks cause they need to have the sputum cultured and that takes time.. but if you already have history of TB the probability of negative results..

NOT AT ALL........if they found anything from ur x-ray u will really undergo for Sputum test....

and if its clear ...u will procedd to ur interview....

WE all know they are very strict regarding with Medical Issues..............

i had my medication there and i dont have any history of tb or the rest of my family.....

but it is really an advantage to have medication in th Phi rather than to have medications here like my friend who has negative culture result but she repeat the culture test and became Postive so she is under medication for 9 months.....which is really longer!
