another quick question....does the beneficiary's employment have any affect on the acceptance of the visa? My wife has been unemployed since December 2008...a fairly long time. She has done some freelance web design jobs here and there so I could put Self Employed on the G325A where it asks about occupation. Does it matter if she has been unemployed that long? Should I put self employed or should I leave it as unemployed? thanks

NO... You are the one who is important as you are petitioning for her...Her income has no impact at your interview....As she is comming here to the USA they only want to see that she will not become a public Charge.........Thus your income is what matters... Be honest and put Unemployed...But leave NO gaps in the Dates...Example...Worked from 3/2006 to 5/2008 then unemployed from 5/2008 till present day..

For K type Visas (Fiancé(e) and certain spouses of a U.S. citizen, and their dependents), applicants must fill out the ds-156 form, the ds-160 is for other visas

Okay... I sent off our ROC packet this morning. I know that Lorena will have the ability to travel after we receive the NOA acknowledging they got the packet. Question is, if she is in Colombia at the time I receive the letter for the biometrics appointment, can the biometrics be postponed until she gets back? She is still desperately homesick but we don't want to screw up the process since we've made it this far.

I've done some searching on-line and here on visajourney, and have found nothing difinitive on this. Any ideas or insights?

Charles,

In case you need to change the biometrics appointment, you just have to send a letter with the original NOA (mark with an X the box "request for reschedule") to the Application Support Center and mail copy of the letter and NOA to the USCIS Service Center where you applied for ROC for their records.

We had to reschedule our biometrics and they sent us a new date. Initially it was on May 28th and we need to be there on June 14th. Our letter just said:

To Whom It May Concern:

We kindly request you to reschedule our appointment for biometrics for the next available date after June 11th, 2010.

I don't see why you could not have Sandra complete her treatments here, because once she arrives, you will visit a Civil Surgeon to have her medical condition reviewed before sending out for her Adjustment of Status (AOS). :bonk:

Hello everyone, new to this topic and have been on VJ for about a month now. A little bit about our process:

My Wife is here in the US (NY) and we are in the fingerprints stage of her AOS (considering trying a walk in), her kids are in Barranquilla, we sent her AOS and her kids CP packages on May 13th, got NOA1 and based on what I am reading we should we NOA2 for the kids process around July or August (keeping fingers crossed and hoping for a faster process). Way too many questions about the CP process but reading your contributions sure helps a lot, I will be bugging you with questions as the time to send forms to NVC gets closer. For now, I am reading a lot and gathering docs.

Good luck to all!

I really feel for you, that is just so unfair! We all work so hard to get our forms filled out & filed correctly & on time, and to prove everything to them, and to show them that we really are in love, but something like this, who could ever predict it? Too bad that the two different doctors can't just agree. If it helps you to feel any better at all, you at least know that so many people here are thinking of you and hoping for the best for both of you...

Read up on the short cuts, also if the other parent is listed on the children/s BC ( and still alive ) and there is no custody doc you will need a letter fom that parent at the NVC stage allowing the children to immigrate. You will also need a form for the children to be able to leave colombia with only one or no parent or DAS will not let them leave the airport.

See info below
