They are just working on January and February files right now. I filed the end of February and am still waiting. There has been no one yet who filed in March approved and there are still a few December 2007 filers waiting for approval. Unfortunately, yes, this is absolutely normal for VSC.

We too filed I-751 in March 2008.

My wife's GC expire date is 5/2008.

We got the confirmation with the notice of 1 yr extension.

but...

  • what if the I-751 is not finalized/processed by 5/2009?
  • Will they automatically send another notice of extension?
  • Or should we take some preemptive action?

I know we have some time, but i don't want to cut it too close and risk running into issues with employment, etc.

first post...thanks in advance.

They most likey won't send out another extension, so when it gets to about two weeks before expiry make an infopass appointment and get a I-551 stamp in your wife's passport. The Stamp will be good for travel and work. Hopefully you won't have to to do that

They are also sending 10K files to CSC and I'm awaiting the headlines that at least 50% of those got lost along the way...

I filed March 19th, 2008. Last touch was June 16, 2008...

Actually that is 10,000 files per week for the next 8 weeks - for 80,000 files in total.
