Hello Everyone:

Really need some help ASAP.

My fiancee , her child, and I flew to Manila from Palau (where we live and work) on 1/21/09. It cost us around $2K on plane tickets alone. My fiancee and her child went to St. Luke's on Thursday for medical. Everything went great, except the daughter needed a TB test, which they only do on M-W-F's and it takes 72 hours to obtain the results. So, the results wont be ready until the day of the actual interview. To make matters worse, in the ensuing panic, we forgot to pay the interview fee.

As this stands now, we dont have medical clearance or proper payment. Because its the weekend in the States right now, we can't call to reschedule and the can't do it over the Embassy wesbite because for some reason, it does not recognize our appointment confirm number.

Our plan for interview day . . . (1) Fiancee goes to Embassy to wait in line; (2) daughter and I go to St. Luke's at 5am to pick up results and rush them over as soon as we get them; and (3) family friend pays the interview fee right as the bank opens at 8am and rush it over too.

Is this even possible? Will be be able to resechedule if we aren't able to?

Please help. Really in a bind. This trip is costing us a fortune in itself, so dont know if we will be able to fly back in a week or two (ok, we will be able to, but it will hurt us tremendously financially). Also, my job in the US wants me to start in about 30-45 days so time is an issue too.

Thank you everyone.

Sounds like it will work if all goes as planned. Yes you can reschedule, but probably not necessary. I cannot say for sure about Manilla, BUT most consulates if some document is missing will approve the visa pending the delivery of that document (the medcial for example) and release the visa when they obtain the missing document. It depends on what is missing and the consulate. But there is a good chance they would do this. A new interview date could push the whole thing down the road a bit.

Not to pick on you, but this is why I always say to download packet 3 from the website when you file the I-129f and get everything prepared before the interview date. Things such as the medical exam procedures (which vary greatly by country) should be known and planned for long in advance. Waiting until now (as you see) is gauranteed to present unpleasant surprises. Nearly everyone has a great expense to go to the interview and it is a shame to waste that money for lack of prior planning. For example, the visa fee could have been paid the day you got your case number from NVC. There is no need to wait until the day of the interview, nor any need to wait until the embassy sends you something. Get it online, call the medical clinic two, three, four months in advance...ask the procedures (Kiev did not require a TB test for example and the medicals are completed in one day) find ot how long in advance you have to plan for something. Medicals in Kiev are virtually a "walk in" procedure, in some places you must make an appointment weeks in advance. I say this for the benefit of all VJ'ers. Many take the posisiton that they have sent the I-129f and now must "wait". DO NOT wait! Get going on the next step. Fill out your AOS forms before she gets the visa, you should have all ready before she arrives, then add the copy of her I-94 and marriage license and send it off.

thank you so much for the reply. but for the record, Palau is a different country, so we couldn't do the medical test, pay the interview fee, or get the police clearance there. We had to wait until we arrived in Manila.

What do you do in countries where they do not issue Packet 3? I have only seen on the Guatemala City Embassy information on VJ the information of what is usually in Packet 4, but I have also read that the dates have to be really close to the interview to be valid. Based on our timeline and the way things are going, I have a feeling our interview will be in June or July. I am going to visit in April and could bring him some information, but I also don't know if I should leave my original Birth Certificate with him for fear I may need it here or something. I am also going back in June to stay for the whole summer (I'm a teacher so I don't have to be back in the States til mid-August - hopefully he will come back with me!) I want things to go as fast and smoothly as possible, but I don't know exactly how much I can gather ahead of time. Can you help? Thanks!
