Hello Everyone

Im glad I came upon this site because I have been stressed or months about my situation. Ok my boyfriend and I have been together for a while and we want to get married. He lives in South Africa and I live in the US. I am not sure which would be the best option for us to do. We have discussed numerous ways to go about getting him here in my arms.

Our first thought was for him to come over here on a vacation visa and then we get married and while he was here on his vacation visa we start filing all of those forms, like the K3 spouse visa and wait, I don't want him to come over here and us get married and then they make him leave.. we have been apart for so long that i feel like if he comes here to America, lll be to scared to let him get in the return flight due to the fact I wont see him again for a while. He already has his vacation visa in hand and we are about to book his flight, so the thought of wasting that bothers me exspecially when i am dying to see him... SO.. My questions are : Which is the best route for us to take, If he comes here on a vacation and we get married will they mke him leave even if I file the k3 spouse visa while he is here? If he comes here, we get married and lets say he"accidently" misses his return flight do they come looking for him and then were in trouble...

I feel like i have read document after document but what I want is someone to actually explain it to me after hearing my story.. any advice would be great.. thanks so much.

hmmm, IDK....you know with your situation the K1 sounds better, but since you already have the vacation visa then you might as well get married and then file for k3 visa....which still does mean that your bf will essentially still have to go back once his visa that brought him here is up, but personally in my opinion, this is unavoidable unless you want to "get in trouble" like you said. But here's the thing...with the k3 visa your bf can come here on vacation visa or travel visa to see you how much he wants....considering the two of you can afford it that is. Don't just take my word for it though..this is just my advice. There are waaaaayyy more brilliant VJ'ers in this place you need to hear from.....don't worry they'll be here soon. :)

Hang in there k....we all miss our SO's more than we can handle....but believe it or not, we will all get through it. Inshallah, may God help us all.

Nicolle,

Is your plan to have your husband use his toursit visa (or VWP) to enter into the US and then you will get married? Will you try and adjust his status when he is here after you file for the I-130 or will he return home to S. Africa to have his interview and finish the process?
