Good morning! My sister left today and it's the first time in two weeks that we've had our apartment to ourselves! I had to drive her to the airport at 4am and then came slept a little more and am at work. I've got to get some homework done the next few days and then hopefully do some cleaning and cooking this weekend. I'm planning to cut up and marinade some different meat for meals during the week and also make some mezze dishes to freeze and have on hand. Hubby is going to take a more active role in evening meal preparation starting next week but I think having frozen things around will be a huge help. I'm going to post some things that I'd like recipes for in the Sultan's Kitchen thread so please stop by and help me out!!! :)

Great idea with the meal planning!!! Please share your recipes and I am hoping that you will motivate me - I need to find time to go to the gym and will cooking after work I just run out of time. I would love to go before work but with us usually going to sleep after midnight I can never drag myself out of bed early enough. I think weekend planning in prep. could be the solution...I'll be checking in on your additions to the Sultan's Kitchen - Thanks Amera!!!!

Well, I went to the doc yesterday for this lingering cough I've had for far too long. I have a history of anemia and my doc was worried that I looked so pale, so she sent me to the lab for blood work. The results are in and I am (again) critically low on blood and have to get another freakin' blood transfusion! They also want to do some more work on me and have me meet w/ a hematologist about iron infusions and figure out why my body is not producing enough iron (or keeping it). #######.... just what I wanted.

Oh Noura - please take care of yourself and get to the bottom of it! This sounds like a very serious issue and I'm so sorry that you are going through this. (((HUGS)))

Oh geez!!! If it's not one thing it's another! I swear that is why I HATE going to the doctor 'cause each time I go they find something new! Hang in there!

Happy Thursday! It's raining like cats and dogs outside. I guess the nice Cali weather didn't last long.

I always compare going to the doctors like taking your car into the shop. They always find other things that you had no idea about.

Thanks Dorothy, Bridget & HLM...

Does anyone know about hematology? I have an appt w/ a hematologist today in about 30 min. I have no idea what to expect or where this will lead, but I guess I'll have some answers in a couple of hours. Wish me luck.

Hey Noura - I'm sorry to hear about this. In 2007 when I was in Argentina, I lost so much blood from my surgery. I didn't have a transfusion, but I could tell my iron was dangerously low - I said, something is terribly wrong because all I want to do is eat ice and it's 28 degrees outside. They ran tests and my iron count was non-existent. So I started getting iron injections 4X a week for 3 weeks. TMI but my booty still has brown circles from where it was injected.

I think weekend planning in prep. could be the solution...I'll be checking in on your additions to the Sultan's Kitchen - Thanks Amera!!!!

Happy Thursday ! Noura ~ I hope you feel better (F) Dorothy ~ This is exactly what has been working really well for me. After much trial and error I decided to make Sundays the day I would meet friends, splurge or eat something that I have been craving. This is also the day I prep veggies and make a big salad for the week. If I make a special dinner on Sundays I freeze individual, small portions for the week. This allows for easy meals and time to workout during the week.

If I go a little over board on Sundays, I am right back on plan and in the gym the next day with a fresh start to the week. For me planning, structure and organization for weight loss just as in other areas has proved essential. I will post more on this topic on our FB group

I don't know anything about it and I hate the sight of blood. I always have to focus on something on the other side of the room when I get blood drawn.

Here's a thought...you know how some people claim to *feel* the donor of their organ in different ways? Some have memories of the donor that freak them out, etc. I wonder if anything like that has ever happened when you get blood from someone. That would be cool. Unless of course the person just had really bad memories. Then that would suck.
