Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On January 6, 2009, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Is the 60 day thing a standard procedure? Or does it vary case by case or according to what the RFE was sent for?

They received what you mailed to them for the RFE, and they need additional time for processing it. Just additional time waiting for your response.

I understand, I meant to ask whether the 60-day limit is a standard procedure or whether it varies case by case (like some pple get 14 days while other get 30 or 60 days)

It doesn't depend of the case, it depends of the agent who is assigned to your case. Some are very fast some other ones slow. It is why it can takes from a couple days to 2 months...

It is a standard form letter, 60 days is what they tell everyone so you won't call and bother them. Hopefully, if it was the only item missing, it will likely be processed much faster. All this means is "until 60 days has passed...don't call us, we'll call you"
