This is really none of my business but since you laid it out there, how can you not afford health insurance but can afford to go away on a $6,000 trip for 7 months and have money to file for divorce? How will the rent get paid while you're gone? These are things I'd be worried about but that's just me. Plus I have kids so I guess I think about things like having a roof over my head all the time. *sigh* To be free to just roam about the world would really be wonderful!!!!! Can I live vicariously through you?

Humpkin Pumkin please think before you judge others. You have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on a tube reversal operation and many many thousands on getting your man to the states. Before giving advice on finances it would be wise to look at your own posts. You told VJ that your home might be foreclosed soon and you could lose your house. Maybe if you had acted with more care your small daughters could stay in the home they grew up in. I'm sorry to have to say this, but you are not the best person to give advice on how another woman spends her cash. I've been reading this forum for a while now and had to speak up. If you don't want to be judged harshly - don't judge harshly. Peace.

Did you just spend time, after logging in here, to read all of my past posts? Including the ones from my old account which you would have no way of knowing about unless you were someone who perhaps was a royal beatch to me before and just now have come back? Hmmm...wonder who that could be.

Many many thousands getting my man to the states? Are you even in the visa process? Who the heck spends many many thousands getting a man to the states? The fees weren't that high when we applied.

The REASON I might be losing my home is because he is going out of business and hasn't paid me child support....pretty fkg substantial amount of money each month, in a loooong azz time. Oh right, that was my bad. Perhaps it was my bad to rely on his money since he's been in business for about 20 years now. How silly of me to think that he'd remain in business for another 20 years. Sh!t I should have even brought out my crystal ball and foretold the mortgage crash that led his business to go under!

You're right. I was stupid to suggest to nutty that perhaps when she cannot afford health insurance she should maybe stay put and work on getting more stability. She has her house in order though from what she replied to me so I won't worry anymore and I'll be sure to check with you the next time I feel the need to comment on a situation that I obviously suck at.

Oh btw...welcome back and you might wanna check out that other site ex pats. You can cut me down all you want there and some might even join in. Good times!!!!

I did a similar thing in '93-95, temped, lived at home and saved up only $3K plus airfare and took off for Venice - my dream city at the time. I ended up babysitting and teaching English for this family who owned a hostel - they kindof exploited me (4 hours per day in exchange for a bed, no meals) but it enabled me to live in Venice. I also did some off the books English teaching through private language schools, private tutoring and translation(I speak Italian). I had a great time but I was really living on the edge. I remember August was the worst because schools weren't in session - a family who owned a little restaurant would let me teach their son English in exchange for a big bowl of pasta.

I love Italy. Never made it to Venice; just Rome, Pisa, Florence and Milan. Sorry you were taken advantage of but that's more often the case with nannies. I really struck gold with the family I lived with in Germany.

If Nepal is so cheap I will definitely go for a visit at some point in my life.

To be brutally honest, Bridget said it best, I too wonder how one can just up and leave and travel, I didn't think she was being rude, she just ask an obvious question that SOMEONE else already posted. Bridget, it isn't worth your time or effort to defend yourself, those who know you, myself, don't need it, trust me. SOMEONE on this forum needs to smoke a blunt, and get a life. Bridget has always been a good person and I personally have never seen her being nasty to anyone, really someone needs to chill out. Life is too damn short, the OP came one and asked a question and as long as no one is nasty the question was asked that a lot of us wondered at the same thing. she couldn't work things out. If one wants a marriage to work, they don't plan for a leave of

absence. I know Nutty will say "well my husband wanted to go back", but perhaps it is because he misses his home country as most MENA men do, But in time their SO helps them to try to adjust with patience, not running off coz things aren't going their way. The grass always looks greener on the other side, but somewhere lurking are sink holes.

Personally I don't care what Nutty does with her money, nor do I want to judge what Bridget is or was going through. But I do have to chuckle that someone feels the need to create a screen name specifically to trash someone. I have a feeling you are a member over at expats, and there is a lot less restrictions there. Take your judgments there, and if Bridget chooses to come over and discuss it, so be it. But don't hide like a coward.
