Asset Requirements for I-134

I am a full-time student and have a wealthy retired relative willing to serve as my co-sponsor for my I-134. They would prefer not to disclose the entirety of their assets on the I-134. How much should they disclose and document in order to meet I-134 sponsorship requirements (with including my fiance and I, total household number will be 3).

Thanks!

If (presumably so) they have sufficient income - they would not have to disclose any assets.

If they don't have any/sufficient income, they should list enough assets to satisfy the requirements.

These are the poverty guidelines from the USCIS website. As long as your sponsor can prove they are able to support their dependents and your fiance at 125% above poverty level, then they really only need to disclose the amount of money they have that meets that 125% for the amount of people they are responsible for. (ex. 125% for 2 people is about $18,000 or so)

We met in October 2007 and our immigration journey started in July 2008 when we filed for the I-129F Fiance Visa petition.

As others have mentioned, if they have retirement "income" that is sufficient, they can simply leave all asset portions of the affidavit blank. If they need to list assets, they need only list enough liquid assets like mutual funds or bank accounts to amount to 3 - 5 times the applicable 125% of poverty level for their household plus the intending immigrant. These kinds of questions tend to be shots in the dark to answer because we have no idea about how their income is derived or what kind of assets they have to disclose.

Those are guidelines for the I-864, which is different from the I-134... the I-134 only requires that your income is 100% over povertly line.

If only the visa process was about meeting minimum requirements. The OP is bringing a fiancee from the PI where they don't always accept co-sponsors anyway. I'd show a minimum of 5 time the 125% figure in assets all their actual "income" if sufficient. A "wealthy relative" is likely to understand the difference between income and assets. If income is sufficient, simply skip the assets.
