I am a US Citizen and I got married August 22, 2008 in Pakistan, and my husband is a Pakistani Citizen. I filed the I-130 on October 24, 2008 and I received the I-797C Notice of Action in the mail October 29, 2008. Then I filed the I-129 F (K3) on November 18, 2008 and received the I-797C Notice of Action in the mail November 19, 2008 since it was considered K3 the fee was waived. I got an email on November 21, 2008 stating:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On November 19, 2008, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) and request that we waive the filing fee. We have waived the filing fee and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Then I received an email on December 11, 2008 stating:

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done, counting from when USCIS received it. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. To receive e-mail updates, follow the link below to register.

After that i haven't received any updates or any emails and nothing in the mail. I am wondering how long it will take to approve the I-130 and I-129F? I checked the processing time page and I saw that page for Service Center Processing Dates for Vermont Service Center as of: September 30, 2008 which mean it hasn't been updated since SEP 2008 which is no help. Let me know if anyone knows what is typical time of waiting....thanks

You can check your timeline for an estimated answer. However, since your husband is from Pakistan I'd bet it will take more than 1 year; but that's just my opinion.

NOA 2. Really?

My case was done in JUNE 2008 so WAITING is the name of the game, yes there are few got their approvals already within 3 months. I guess its depends because if I filed on June and few people filed on NOV and got their approval... then the system is not really that fair. Gooodluck!

Dont worry friend....As soon as they approve ur case they will forward it to NVC(national visa center) so that the nvc allocate ur husband a us embassy/consulate for interview which is closer to ur husband locality(all pakistani come to islamabad consulate/embassy for interview)..and at the same USCIS informs u about it that they have approved ur case....once the NVC sends ur husband case to islamabad they will inform u too about it....the embassy will then call and sends a letter with instructions package to ur husband to appear for an interview...please dont worry and dont rush ur case will still take some time....Wish u a speedy process....take care

Yeah I noticed a lot of religious discrimination in Pakistan. I hope it doesn't take a year.

Figure 6-9 months of waiting for Vermont to approve the petitions.

Check the K3 flowchart here to see the step by step flow of a K3. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k3flow

That will give you a good idea of what comes after the waiting at USCIS.

Good Luck and I hope you guys have a speedy reunion!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
