LOL, believe it or not, I am actually looking forward to some point where I can say I am taking vacation and it's not Jamaica -

If I could live (and make a living) in Jamaica, I would...that's how much I love it. BUT, I feel the same way! I want to travel somewhere else. I'm dying to get back to West Africa and I really would like to go to Thailand or New Zealand.

Marlita, you don't burn an air condition ? Are these the numbrs when it was just you in the house, or is this what you are paying for two people?

Only the super hot parts of California need A/C....SoCal is warm but pretty temperate as far as I understand. SF NEVER needs A/C (unless you're a total wimp). In my little apartment with just me, my electric, gas & water are no more than about $45-50 a month combined! Sometimes $10 or so LESS than that!

Yup! thats sounds about right Ells. Utilities are far cheaper here than the East Coast. Most people here run their AC when they really dont need to. Plus it cools down great at night and just open a window for Gods sake!! I HATE ac.

Right now, my trips to JA aren't feeling like a vacation - Usually, I head to MD a few times in the summer, up to Boston, Vegas, AC,.... mini trips - I am seriously missing them, because I have given all my vacation time to JA - being with DJ is worth it - but right now it's work - and since my last trip was DEFINITELY not a relaxing vacation, I am having a hard time with thoughts of the next one -

trust me i know what you mean. I mean its vacation from your job, buts its not all fun when you go there so I get it. Thats why i am looking forward to my next trip out there.

I know what both of you mean! Of course, we have plenty of fun but this time around there's going to be plenty of work to get done too. We have to go to the registar's and get his non-impediment form out of the way and maybe even his birth certificate if the one I have is not 'official' enough. We may also need a copy of his daughter's birth certificate but not sure how official it has to be for the purpose of attaching them to the forms. I'm also thinking of jumping the gun and getting most of his vaccinations out of the way. There's going to be enough business happening on this trip!

Ah yes Ells, All the business runs! We had so many of those! And since we didnt have a car it was route and bike taxis galore! Or walking here and there, me hot and sweaty, and annoyed by mozzie bites, but I gotta say, the JA vibe still made me enjoy myself. But.....after being there for a month straight, I gotta say, i was ready to come home. Living life there day to day every day, is very hard and tiring. Takes some getting used to.

I'm sure it does! You have to learn patience because nothing happens on the timeline we're accustomed to. I get tired of being sweaty so there's that too...and then I'd definitely have to have stock in mosquito repellant! But you're right...it's still Jamaica and Jamaica nice!
