hi everyone! can someone PLEASE help me!?! I have dual citizenship (US and Canadian) but i was born in the US... I was living in NYC for the past 5 years and came back to canada in april 08... i moved in with my now fiance as roommates and we fell in love! we are engaged now and i want to go back to the US... he wants to go too!

so we decided to file for the k1 visa instead of getting married first and then going the k3 route. we are obviously living together in canada and are filing from here... my questions are

1) do i send my papers to the center in vermont (since its closest to NY where i used to live)

2) on question 14 when they ask for US address where my fiance intends to live, can i just attach a paper explaining we are currently living in canada together so our address in the states will not be determined until we are approved? obviously i will say it nicer :) lol or will this cause us to be denied??? i dont want to waste $500 ya know?? :( the paperwork only says you have to be a US citizen not a current resident....

3) and lastly HOW THE HELL do i pay this fee from canada?? scotiabank says they only do the immigrant visa payments not the K visa payments, i guess i could just put the money in my US bank account somehow and then send a check, but i would rather not do that... so if you know how to pay from canada can you please tell me??

if anyone knows these answers please help me! there is no one to ask, no one to call and all these service centers are only open for like 2 mins a day lol

thanks everyone!

have you thought about getting married and filing the I-130 at a Canadian Consulate? It would be by far the fastest... Otherwise get a money order or bank check drawn in US funds... Scotia Bank probably misunderstood... You are not yet applying for a "K" visa but submitting a petition to the USCIS to determine eligibility for the alien to eventually apply at some future date

YMMV

Seriously, look into getting married and doing what is called Direct Consular Filing (DCF). It is the fastest route. You can read the guides pinned to the top of the DCF forum here on VJ.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
