PHILIPPINE POST OFFICE

I don't know how they do it but they sure can sniff the money out

They have sticky fingers! My friend told that every mail, cards and letters coming from the United States and Europe, they put them in the freezer and when the glue comes apart they look inside. Pretty neat huh! Palibhasa kasi hindi naman ganun kalaki sinusuweldo nila (They are not paid that much in the post office.). So they are tempted to steal whatever valuables inside those mails or packages.

Someone should put a stop to what these people are doing. Sometimes the postal carriers and you get a lot of mail and you don't tip them and then you don't get all your mail.

Rocky

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

haay... we cant trust anymore our own country.. whenever i send documents to the US, its always via courier coz if its ordinary post office in the PI, either di makarating or may nawala na sa loob.. if makarating man, uber tagal..

destiny belongs to those who believe in their dreams and have the courage to really pursue it!

dont stop when you're tired, stop when you are done!

You still have to pay tax even if its sent thru fedex or any private couriers. Its safety is guaranteed though.

that's true. but you pay taxes to send them, not to receive them, right?

You pay taxes also to receive them in PI of sent from abroad.

Some general rules

Never send money. The banks do that not the post office!

Don't send high value items as they are tax. Just send the money or order online for delivery within PI.

The above two are things that are prone to theft.

it's a fact. the phil post office is not reliable and very corrupt! once, when i got a package from my hubby, i found one side of the box obviously opened and resealed with tape! it was a good thing he gift-wrapped everything inside so it would be more obvious if they stole anything. and in another incident, i was made to pay a very huge amount as "tax" for a package that was declared as a gift! :ranting:

so guys, i recommend using a more reliable courier service such as fedex or dhl. they're a bit more expensive but you'll be sure that your package is safe from thieves such as our post office.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Last Feb 2009, i got a package from my hubby which includes 2 perfumes, 3 cds, 5 blouses from victoria secret and 2 cards.. When the guy checked the box, he said i need to pay the tax which he computed with the total amount of P2,600++ because my hubby declared $200 as the value of the package..

I was irritated knowing that never in my life i paid any taxes for the packages i received from my hubby. For 2 years, i always pay only P35 for the Customs which is legal... I told the guy i have no money - until i asked him where is Ate Rudith (my friend who works inside the post office). I told her what happen and she said if i have at least P500 - P1000 to give it to the guy (which is a lagay...) I said i have no money since i am not aware that i need to pay the tax.. I told her i will be back again tomorrow..

When i got home, i called up the ninang of my brother which is working in the Customs in the Main office as the Examiner and Trainor - i asked her if i need to pay the tax.. She said, since my hubby declared the package as $200, i need to pay the tax and she said that i should not listen to what Miss Rudith said..( Huwag ko daw kunsintihin ang mga tao sa pagbibigay ng lagay...)

The next day, i went back to the post office and i brought P1,000 with me.. Bahala na! I told the guy, Sir i only have P500.. I pretend that i need to pay my water bill for him to allow me to get my package for only P500.. (i-bargain ba?!) He said, ok P800 ok na. I was like uhm ok.. He informed me that he will not give any receipt since i didnt pay for the tax.. I said ok lang..

When i gave him the P800 - a lady just arrived which is the examiner (the Boss!) and i asked her if she knows Mrs. ______ (the ninang of my brother) and she said, Ah oo trainor namin yun si Mam! She pointed to the guy, diba kilala mo si Mam _______? Guy said, ah ooo.. I was like damn (inside my mind)... She asked me why, i told her what happen and she just make face to me (for me parang ang meaning nun is, hayaan mo na lang,, naibigay mo na yung pera eh).. THen i told her that Mrs. ____ is our family friend and ninang of my brother. Mrs _____ gave me a pass at the airport for me to go inside the arrival area... She said, ah oo si Mam mabait yun... She suddenly get a piece of paper and a pen and she wrote down her number and told me, sa susunod na kukuha ka ng package - call me.. its for free iha!!!

About sa guy, he was embarassed kasi he knows for a fact that i know who is his trainor... Haha! I told him - sa susunod libre na lahat ng package ko ha! Kahit electronic pa yan - sabi nya OO... (i just said in my mind, ** you fat guy!)

LESSON: If you dont have any connections inside the post office or anyone who works in the Customs - don't declare the package more than $50... IF you're going to send an electronic stuffs - better send it nalang thru Fedex or any courier (but still the receiver is going to pay for the tax kasi ike-claim parin yan ng sender since may insurance ang mga private courier...)

My wife sent birthday cards to family members and inserted money bills so discretely I couldn't even tell there was money inside, the money bills were hidden in the card itself/she made the card herself and pressed them to look like just plain greeting cards not two cardboards sealed and glued on the sides, and the family never received them. That was the first and last time we would use them.

i only had two post cards....the reason why they cant open the envelope coz i put tape on each side of the envelope and put markings on it...like curve lines and straight lines....so if the post office will open it my family will know it...hehehhehehe...nobody from the post office did any magic in my envelope...heheheheh.

I would never send packages by USPS to Philippines.

It depends naman cguro, coz it never happened to me (hehehe wag naman sana). But it sad that it happened. But USPS, you can tract where you packages dba. Mostly they won't write what's inside the box....

LESSONS LEARNED:

Never EVER declare the value of the item because it will be put on hold sa Custom.

Meron po talaga law na 12% of the value of the item as custom tax. Kahit pa DHL or Fedex i ho hold pa din nila basta may naka declare na value. I think hino hold nila kapag $100 up ang naka declare.

So what we've doing all this time was to declare $5 as value of the item even if it's a laptop, computer, X box, Wii or any other valuable item. This is true whenever the package came from, my packages usually come from S. Korea where my husband is stationed and we learned our lesson.

Hindi naman puedeng hindi mo ideklara kung magkano ang halaga at may insurance naman bawat items na pinapadala..i also have had bad experience regarding our post office nung pinadalhan ako ni mister ng ipod and it cost 265 USD at siningil ako sa custom ng 15% VAT(daw)..well i cant name of any agency in this place na hindi curropt...

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

I agree with you guys of the complaints. The reliable city as far as I know nothing is stolen or lost is in Cebu City and in Cagayan de Oro City. Other places I dont know. I received few packages long time ago and until now I am lucky nothing to complain.

NEVER send any money in the regular mail or important documents. It hurts to say but some people who work there are very corrupt.

I totally agree with you! My hubby sent me a package (which is supposed to be a Valentine's day gift) on early week of February 2007.

It was mailed via USPS on priority mail.

It contains a PC camera, chocolates and a Valentine's Day card with $100 inside the card.

Unfortunately, I got the package a day before my hubby's first trip to Cebu City which was on Feb 27.

Luckily, I didn't pay any tax when I was told to pick it up at the post office.

Hearing all these complaints from you guys, I'm already hesitant to send packages back home.

Thanks for sharing! :)

SHARE KO LANG...

I sent a digital camera to my family in the Philippines via USPS it took 1 and half month before they got the Notice from Post Office in Manila.

Actually, i include some money and put it inside the care booklet and the camera's accessories.. I was told at the USPS here to separate the battery and the memory card from the camera and so I did.

When my mom was in the Post Office to get the box and the lady showed the box the camera was not there INCLUDING the accessories.. I know you cannot put money inside a mail but I did it anyway and so my sister got the booklet and showed them that It has money and the employees said "Ay.. may pera..!" and because my sister is so mataray she then told them "Oh yeah.. di nyo nakuha noh? sayang diba, mas malaki to kesa sa ninakaw nyo!"

My mom asked them where to sign a complaint but they were already nagtuturuan and so my mom got annoyed and just left but my sister stayed and called the attention of the director and told him "Putaena mo! u let this happen, anu ka mastermind?!" infront of other customers and he just stood up and listening to what my sister was telling him.

When she was about to go, the other employee called her and asked "Ma'am, wait! hindi nyo pa po nababayaran un tax!" because my sister got the box with the CD and the booklet and my sister told them "Ang kapal ng mukha nyo! Fu*k u all!"

For me, they deserve to be yelled like that because when they knew that the package was from the US they will steal it and tax you High.

LESSON LEARNED: Never send package to the Philippines!

I had sleepless nights and gave me stress for I thought the whole package was lost.. imagine 1 and half months of waiting only to be told that the camera is not there.. Good thing they still left the booklet with money which was the most important thing in that package.

As others have said, saved yourself grief and stress and just go through DHL, Fedex, etc. I personally go through LBC as they have a low rate for their air pouch and envelope. As for money, if they needed it so bad, go through westernunion or luckymoney or again through LBC.

With LBC kasi, clothings must be branded! I was like what?? Eh what if kung tahi lang yan ng nanay ko! lol which is natawa yung girl hehe... And also sa LBC, medium size pouch lang ang available nila and they dont want the package to be mixed with clothings and toys or cd.. Isang type lang daw dapat ng item ang pwede kong ipadala.

Good thing kasi sa Post office, i can send tuyo, daing or any cookies unlike sa mga private courier - they are too picky.

I noticed one time, this guy wants to send 6 bracelets thru Post Office and the lady said, pag binalik ito dito samin, you have to pay this again. Tsaka they do not accept any glutathion medicine.. Bawal daw. Hmp.

By the way, i have another experience last year before we got married. When my ninong(sponsor) send his gift which is our wedding ring thru Fedex, he declared it the value as $600 kaya nang dumating rito yung wedding ring - we have to pay for the tax which is P3,900! Sigh...
