Hello Folks,

1. Is it allowed for immediate families, like inlaws, to swear affidavits confirming the legitimacy of a marriage?

2. Do we have to wait and get these documents during the 90-day window ? Our 90-day period is about to open in the next month. If we were to get affidavits and other relevants docs now, would the dates on them matter since our 90-day period is not open yet?

Yes, you can use immediate family - who better to know that your marriage is indeed legitimate?

No, you can start getting these documents now. The idea is to get them as close to the time you file so they cover more of your marriage but a few weeks or months is not going to make a difference so start to work on them now. In fact, if you wanted to apply at the very first opportunity you would need to get them prior to that 90 day window opening up. The 90 day window is for them receiving the application, not necessarily putting the package together so you can definitely work on it before hand.
