Congrats, I am picturing him skipping out of the consulate right now trying not to slip on the icy Montreal streets. Such a great day for you both! :star:

:)

That's excellent!

Did they read the date backwards on the certificate, was that the confusion?

Where are you moving to?

Yes, Trailmix, that's exactly what it was! We were married 07/05/2008, but they had it written as 05/07/2008 (my divorce was finalized in June 2008). Once my hubby got that cleared up, everything was fine :)

I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and that's where my husband will be moving to. Quick a change from Toronto, I'm sure!

I-130 mailed: 7/29/08

NOA1: 8/4/08

NOA2: 8/18/08

I-129F mailed: 8/7/08 (Going CR1 instead)

NOA1: 8/11/08

NOA2: 8/25/08

NVC Received: 8/22/08

DS3032 Emailed: 9/4/08 (Accepted by NVC 9/12/08)

Paid AOS fee: 9/8/08

I-864 mailed: 9/11/08 (Received at NVC 9/15/08)

Paid IV fee: 9/12/08

DS230 mailed 9/26/08 (RFE on PCC - was told could ONLY be from RCMP?!, NVC received new PCC from RCMP on 10/30/08)

Case Complete 11/5/08

Interview 1/13/09

congrats!!!! very happy for you guys!

did they let him pick up his Visa right away? or does he have to wait till they mail it to him?

They said he could pick up his visa the next day, but he has to be back to work in Toronto tomorrow morning so they're going to mail it. I wish he could've stayed one more day and picked it up, but oh well. Hopefully, he will get it before Jan 24!!

Montreal must be getting soft--on allowing next day pick up!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
