I-129F, QUESTION 10

 Share

Hey guys,

Another quick question.

The first part of question 10 states, MY CITIZENSHIP WAS ACQUIRED THROUGH, and my answer is BIRTH IN THE U.S.

The next part of question 10 asks, HAVE YOU OBTAINED A CERTIFICATE OF CITIZENSHIP IN YOUR NAME?

What would I put for this question? Since I don't recall ever obtaining a certificate of citizenship, I'm guessing the answer is no. Is this question only refering to those who acquired their citizenship through naturalization or through their parents?

Please help, I'm kind of paranoid and really don't want to make any mistakes on my forms.

Thanks

Yes, I was born in the US and yes I do have a birth certificate, but does that mean that I have obtained a certificate of citizenship in my name?

My american half just ticked the box next to Birth in the US and left all the others blank. The bit you are referring to is if your citizenship was acquired through Parents.

Your birth certificate is your proof of citizenship. For others like me; we have to submit a certificate of naturalization (I wasn't born here and became a citizen through the green card route.) And No - you did not obtain a cerificate of citizenship - you are a citizen because you were born here! You are good to go. Good Luck
