There are (at least) two ways of doing things - the 'required' way and the 'best-practices' way.

On VJ you'll get both; what's required and what has proved to be successful for most VJers, most of the time.

You are of course free to choose your own path.

And then there are the actual instructions which clearly say "all pages" of the passport if being used as proof of US Citizenship. For all passport related purposes, I suggest photocopying all pages. One of the reasons is to clarify any question that could come up about any international travel. I suggest people not get bogged down by asking why to every part of the process they don't understand. It's complicated enough just to understand the "what to do" without all the "why", though often a little thought will answer the why questions for us.

In your case, they may actually want to know how many times YOU have been in and out of Pakistan. Every page of your passport will answer that.

And, a copy of every page of your passport will make it clear you haven't been Bin Laden's courier between him and his sister organization in the PI. Light coming on yet? Zero is a number.

what the?

Every immigration or visa issue related to Pakistan receives additional scrutiny. As such any travel to Pakistan is of interest. You avoid any related questions by showing even though you have a Paki husband, you haven't been there. His travels in and out of Pakistan are also of interest.

I'm assuming nothing of the kind. In the visa process though, those possibilities will be investigated so as to rule them out. It's good for you to be aware of that and act accordingly. No?

Officials have a job to do. Yes there is Al Qaeda in the PI. I'm talking about providing information early to make it easier to rule out. Being aware of what is considered in the process, is not to make an assumption of guilt. A Consular officer will eventually see every page of your husband's passport and evaluate what they see, according to their set procedures. This is the world we live in. To be aware of it is not the same as liking it.

Hmmm. Isn't that were a lot of muslims live?

OP. Like it or not, ratial and religious profiling does occur. It may not be fair, but if you really want things to go smoothly, don't take chances just because you don't agree. I think you were getting some good advice. If you choose to ignore it or get angry at the messenger, you're taking it the wrong way. I don't think anything that was said was meant as an attack.
