Hello, I don't know who all has viewed my recent upset, but my fiance was denied the k-1 visa for lack of relationship proof. I am planning a trip to see him within the next month or so, and we are going to start collecting additional evidence for our relationship. So, the question that has come to mind, of those who have gotten approval for the CR1 visa (which is what we are planning on applying for once our K1 is closed) what kind of proof did you submit? Was there a specific amount of photos you have taken together? What kind of photos were they? If 100, 500, or 1000 is what it takes, so be it. Did you just take it around your SO's country? Vacation spots? What? I am planning on taking several trips to get everything accomplished. Just don't want to go through another rejection. Please advise, I know nothing...

When I filed I-130 for my wife I only send them Marriage certificate as proof of relationship. My wife will take rest of proof such as photos, marriage dvd, phone call records, and etc. to embassy at the time of interview.

Hopefully, this will help you determine what you need to do when you file your petition.

Good luck!

Unfortunately this is one of those nebulous requirements. Different consulates interpret this differently, as I have been told, based on "local conditions" which may be laws and regulations of your fiancees country or just the experience of the individual consulates. We had our interview in Kiev and even though I had visited 6 times in a period of 10 months and had tons of photos and documents to support our ongoing relationship, the consulate asked to see exactly FOUR photos and that is all!!!! The other documentation was ignored, they did not even care to look at it. This was during the process of turning in the documents prior to our "interview". After a few minutes we were called to the "interview window" and my fiancee was given her pink card, her original documents and told to go to the "Fedex window" to arange delivery of her visa! The WAS no "interview"!!!!!!!!!! It was that easy. My fiancee even commented "Taht's it? We came to Kiev for this? Why didn't we just mail the documents?" Not that she was upset or complaining, but it was definitely anti-climactic. Yet I read of many other consulates who seem to give denials when presented with much more evidence than we were required to give. Go figure.

For the record, very few of the photos we had could place us in any particular location, and it really shouldn't matter. Photos together ARE evidence of an ongoing relationship, it doesn't matter in which country the relationship takes place. I met my fiancee in Czech Republic and she is Ukrainian and I am American, what difference does that make? In our case...none. And it shouldn't. We just both hapened to be in Prague at the right time and place.

I have heard of the couples that take photos holding newspapers or in front of prominent, known tourist attractions and never could figure this out. Nothing in the law says you must meet in any particular place, country or time, except the minimum of one time in the last two years. Not one in a hundred of the photos we have could be identified as Ukraine or Czech Rebublic or Russia. None of the four photos taken as "proof" could have been identified as in any particular place though we were wearing heavy coats in some photos and light summer clothes in others so they were definitely taken over a period of time.

Get all you can, is all I can say. I had with me phone bills, email logs, sample emails, western union receipts, gift receipts, photos, travel documents, plane ticket boarding passes...all in all, quite a "stack of stuff" but no one looked at it.

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

While submitting i-130 we submitted around 10 photos, 5 of wedding and 5 just normal pics. Though we submitted other proofs too during our initial filling-- life insurance, phone call records, a couple of chats, few postal letters.

During the interview I took 20 pics of me, again mix of wedding and normal. Make sure with the wedding pics you have friends and families around. I had other proofs too but CO didn't see any of those, she just examined the photographs.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I have sent my SO the link to the guides. Looking forward to more advice in the future as we prepare for these things :)
