I got one from Hartford for $30 a month for 10,000. First for immigration but now for insurance.

Definitely helps show a bonafide marriage.

i know that my son's birth certificate would probably be enough but i dont want them to give us a reason for an RFE...better safe than sorry right? also, for the marriage certificate...just a copy right? and not the original? for the I 130? did anyone from the philippines send a copy of the NSO marriage certificate or from the local civil registry?

lucky you! and lucky your son too! i couldn't do the CRBA for my son although his mother is a USC, i was born in the US but i grew up in the Philippines and went to school there. I didn't meet one requirement...which was to have lived in the United States for 5 years before my son was born. I even talked to the consulate in the US embassy in Manila before I left for the United States but she said I would have to file for a petition for my son.

So now my son has to get a filipino passport and I have to petition him...the IR-2 route...but its all good, i mean he would eventually get his US ctizenship once he enters the US and lives in my custody...I also wanted to file thru DCF at the US embassy Manila when I was still in the Philippines but i didnt have a job, no financial support and no one wanted to be my co sponsor...anyway not bitter about that...at least i fought through for my family, graduated, got my a$$ back to the US and found a job...SUPERMOM and WIFE huh?

USEM is very strict to us, even if my husband was present during our appointment we were still ask to submit additional documents since my hubbys old passport was lost they needed us to submit his arrival records from BI so our son's passport got delayed, we received it 1 month after our appointment.

I also have a life insurance policy issued via HSBC Life Insurance @ $250 annually for $50,000 naming my Fiancee as the beneficiary. Thats a little over $20.00 a month.
