Help! I am worried my dh's best friend has backed out of the co-sponsoring due to something that has lead to bankruptcy on his behalf. What are my options? I work for a small research company and make well under the poverty level because I am part-time. What should I do?? I do not know what my options are and I know that I have not approved yet but my lawyer is requesting that we start gathering things now because he expects an approval around April for us and he does not want to let this all build up the last minute. Now I realize we have a few months to go but nobody else is willing to sponsor him. Will we get denied if I can't sponsor him myself? What will happen? I am scared I may never get to live with my husband again and if he can't come here then I can't move there because I have to attend my university here and my scholarship is not good over there! :crying: Please anyone can help me on this at all? I feel like my whole world is tumbling down on me!

You have two choices, find a sponsor or find a job that pays well enough for you to sponsor. Those are the realities we all deal with. No money, no honey.

No honey=no life

Umm.....how long must I be workingi n order to sponsor him? I can't provide tax returns showing enough because I just started this job.

The better route would be try harder to find another cosponsor, and get a better job ASAP. A better job will be needed anyway, but by itself may not provide the evidence the Consulate requires to show a predictable source of future household income.

There's no magic answer to that but you'd need a couple pay stubs and an employer letter indicating the job is expected to be permanent, if at all possible.

One benefit of a K-3 is that you can get a Co-Sponsor (I-134) for the visa. The co sponsor is only there to show support from time of entry to adjustment of status.

When the K-3 enters the USA, they can apply for EAD before AOS, then take a job with the EAD. The K-3 can then add their income to that of their US Citizen spouse as a member of household.K-3 holder provides an I-864A to to the I-864 provided by their spouse when adjusting status.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

mahitab,

Im sorry to hear that. You can def get a few paystubs under your belt and ask for a letter from your new employer.

Can you take a few less classes, so you can work more hours?

I would do both at once, look for another job and another cosponsor. If you cant work more hours because of school, it might be time to really look at the priorities...you can always take a hiatus from school right?

Best wishes hun

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
