Which visa did you apply for?? Filling in your timeline would greatly help everyone.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Hi Landa,

If I am reading what you wrote correctly, it means that your wife has received her NOA2 from USCIS. Meaning that USCIS has approved the immigration application.

Now, USCIS will send her package over to the National Visa Center (NVC) for processing and setting up an interview date. There will be more paperwork for her to fill out, a fee to pay and a medical examination to undergo. Once that is completed she should have her interview in Montreal.

I haven't looked at recent processing times, so I'm not sure how long its taking to schedule interviews now. It used to be 3-6 months.

At each step, the NVC will send her (or you) the proper paperwork to fill out.

So basically, since your wife is now at NVC, there is paperwork she needs to get to submit with her DS-230 form:

Birth Certificate

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Petitioner Documents

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Police Certificate(s)

Sorry, I thought it was your wife moving. If you are doing a CR-1 visa, then all interviews are held in Montreal. No getting around that one that I've heard.

Vancouver handles fiancee visas. Sucks that you've got to travel so far for an interview.

i filled the time line but how do i check for future updates?

From here on out you will call NVC if you have any questions regarding the forms you will be sending in etc - right through until you are scheduled for your interview (contact info below - found on the VJ wiki NVC page).

If you actually meant how do you update your timeline? You will want to have a look at the My Assistant link at the top of the page here, it's really helpful and has links for things like updating your timeline and viewing your last 10 posts etc.

If you just mean checking the VJ timelines, click on Immigration Timelines at the top of the page.

Some helpful links - the first is a flowchart for the National Visa Center (NVC) which is where your application is now headed. The only thing that has changed recently is that you will be given the opportunity to pay for the DS-230 and the Affidavit of Support (I-864) online, before sending in the documents and forms:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Pr...wchart_v1-2.pdf (found by clicking on the Guides tab at the top of the page)

Another helpful link is this one, a good overview of the NVC process:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut (found by clicking the Wiki tab at the top of the page then clicking on Show all pages then on LingChe NVC ShortCut)

Also the VJCanada Wiki page: (found by clicking on the Wiki tab at the top of the page and do a search for Canada)

NVC contact information

E-mail:

NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

In order to ensure a prompt response:

The Subject Line of the e-mail should be the relevant NVC Case Number.

Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.

Telephone:

(603) 334-0700

An automated recorded message system is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to answer case status inquiries.

Status of case information can only be provided by entering your NVC case number of CIS receipt number (USCIS NOA1 receipt number). NVC has information on received petitions only. If the automated system does not recognize the NVC case number or CIS receipt number you entered, most likely caused by NVC has not yet received your petition.

Telephone operators are available to respond to more in-depth inquiries.

Hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM (EST). Best time to call is 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM to 12:00 PM.

Fax:
