Dear All,

As we can gather knowledge and information about the immigration process while we are stucked with our immigration, I would like to have some ideas about Assets of Benificiary.

I was going through GUIDE where I found something like a beneficiary may also support for ownself if needed. Like, if it worths 5 times from what is considered in the poverty guideline to meet up. Is it correct?

Like if I have some assets something around $25K (1 Apt. and Stock Market investment), how can I present this if I would like to mention in the asset side of I-864?

Please, put some light on this issue....

If you're going to use assets (whether as a USC sponsor or beneficiary/self-sponsor) you need to show supporting evidence of their value. For real estate that could mean mortgage documentation (if any), an appraisal or other supporting evidence (such as property tax records and the like). For stocks - it could mean certificate numbers (etc), but with the economy who knows what they're worth.

Just thoughts for starters...

Also assets used must be liquid, meaning they could reasonably be expected to sell within a year, if needed. The best way to use a foreign home as an asset is to liquidate it in advance.

1) how can we liquidate it in Advance? It is a fixed asset (an apartment or a land)and can be sold if needed...

2) And for stocks, if I show the most recent values till the date, what papers would I need to provide? or Do I need to sell all my stocks and show the nit liquid asset?

Liquidation = selling. Nobody can force you to sell property abroad instead of accepting welfare etc. in the US. So selling the asset converts it to cash. Stocks are a different matter as they can be easily and quickly sold. One would generally provide a brokerage statement etc.
