ok I posted this already just going to post it here too. Does anyone know if when you have to pay for your visa at the interview does it have to be in american dollars or can you pay for it in pounds. My fiancee has his interview on monday and i am just double checking. Thank you.

double posting the answer!

reports are that you can pay thevisa fee in dollars($131), pounds(~£90) or by credit card. the courier fee (£14.20) can be paid in pounds or by credit card. correct me if this is wrong.

Why did Marie620 get denied? I just noticed on Laura's list that there was a denial. I can't see any posts from Marie around her interview date as to why that happened.

Is it unusual to get a denial at London Embassy?

Hi monkeyjuice!

By now you may have already found the answer to my husbands denial. It has been an absolute nightmare! At this stage we have 2 doctors , 1 from the UK and 1 from Michigan that have reviewed my husbands medical results from the panel physician and both have concluded there is nothing wrong or nothing points to any signs of any kind of an alcohol problem. He had to get an evaluation by a shrink that cost us 750 pounds, which even he said my husband is healthy, and that there is no signs of any alcohol problems. Since then , a few days ago apparently the panel physician has now sent my husbands file to the CDC in America so they can review it and tell the panel physician if they think he has a problem, and the Embassy has informed us that they will be in touch once they have the review from CDC ( which is insane) if you ask me, but that is what they are doing. I have also got my senator involved and they are researching our situation with the Embassy to find out why this is happening, since we have proven my husband is fine.

Sadly that is where we are...and still waiting, praying and hoping for some good news soon. On a good note, I am going to see my husband this month because April 9th will be 9 months since we have seen each other....and since we have no clue how long all this will take, if and when we have to file a waiver...I can't wait any longer.

Yeh I read the whole thread you posted. I'm so sorry that you came so close & got denied over something that you both hoped was buried in the past. It's so unfair.

At least your case wasn't sent back to the USCIS, that's a positive thing. I'm sure the Embassy will read the CDC review & see sense.

Good Luck. :thumbs::thumbs:

Thank you Kirsten , Mr and Mrs , Magpie and Monkey Juice! I will go for the visit and hopefully while I am there we will hear something back from the Embassy or my senator.

And your right, we were soooo close. I would have never thought in a million years we would be be battling this and it having to do with alcohol. My god..sometimes I sit here and think they are trying to drive me to be an alcoholic. If they are so concerned about ones mental state of mind.... maybe they should start thinking about the hell we all go through.

Anyway, no use sitting around being too bitter. And on that note , I think I may go have drink :) . Been a long week!

I wish I had known this forum was here alot sooner, I have been in CR-1 almost this whole time.

i think its an incredible stressor to relationships like those that most of us are/were in. and these relationships are already pelted with stress anyways! (distance, cultural differences, weighty decisions, etc)

but, i am of the opinion that there is some ultimate value to having to go through this. (that may be me looking for a positive, but thats how i work. and everything has a silver lining.) knowing that you and your partner can endure this sort of experience can be a source of strength. i am proud of us for the way we have gone through this. (not so proud of the fact that fear of this process prevented me for filing for a long, long time).

marie, this will soon be in the past and just a somewhat crappy memory.

and ms. magpie, that shattering glass made me laugh out loud. funny girl.

Congrats Nich-Nick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

So it took a total of 10 months and 1 week for Nick to become a green-card holder (since you began the process for K-1)!

Very impressive (considering it has been 8+ months and we have yet to go the interview!)

The road may be incredibly long and hard, but regardless of what may trip or hinder you along the way, everyone here can get to where they're going. :D Nothing is beyond reach. Just keep smiling and giggling and you'll be fine (well, the guys can laugh in a manly fashion).

Hugs!
