Guess who is now married to a US Citizen......MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, lol

My husband took his citizenship test on December 16th and passed, yayyyyy :dance::dance::dance: . He completed his oath on the same day which was great because I never want to go through Atlanta again....sheesh the crazy traffic[thank goodness my dad drove us there]. The best part is no more paperwork and no more stressing about the wait time. Yesterday we went to the driver's license office and had his status upgraded from legal permanent resident to US Citizen, paid the fee and had the words "foreign national" taken off his driver's license. My husband also had the privilege of registering to vote which he was too excited to do. Now all we have to do is go to the social security office to upgrade his status there so he will be able to get the benefits he is now entitled to as a US Citizen, update his information at our bank, and last but not least apply for his US passport :dance::dance: .

He called our family in Egypt to tell them the good news and they were happy, although it took him several tries because of the connection problems with the phones. I think my husband checked his naturalization certificate a zillion times to make sure he wasn't dreaming. The only thing he wished is that his picture on his naturalization certificate looked better. I am so very proud of my husband :yes: . I think I have told almost everyone in my office, especially the naysayers. My mom was like I told you he would do great and that he had it in the bag, I had to admit she was right because I was totally stressed about the test[ I was hoping and praying that he got a nice interviewer and he did] I want to thank GOD for all the wonderous blessings he has bestowed upon us.

Anyways thats my BIG NEWS!! Okay one more happy dance :dance::dance: .

Alf Mabrook! I am encouraged after looking at your timeline... Wow that was fast! I'm sure it didn't feel fast to you, but as we sit waiting for the biometrics appt. we can't imagine that in just a few years he could be a citizen.

I'm shocked at how many places you had to do things to change him to a "citizen"... I don't think any of the places you mentioned here even ask if you are a citizen... The bank??? The DMV??? Very interesting...

Congratulations Again,

K

Congrats Nikki & Wael!!!

My hubby did his on July 4th. It was wonderful...more than anything it is so nice not to have to deal with USCIS ever again, unless we want to apply for his parents. I always tell people that getting the visa was the easy part...just wait for all the other stuff that comes your way. How awesome to have it all done.

God bless you both!

first off I want to say congrats!!!!

second.... how long does a person have to be in the u.s. until they take the test?

3 years if you are married to a US citizen and 5 years if you are not

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

Salam,

In order to take the test you will need to be either:

Legal resident for five years

Or three years from your first Green card if you are married to a US Citizen
