I have no clue what I am. I think I'm in the -3s though. I always thought I had REALLY bad vision but then in university, talking to some friends who wore glasses some of them were -6s and -9s.

I can't see worth ###### without glasses. I can't see the writing on the computer screen unless I squint. I like my glasses though. Now that I don't play sports, it's really not an issue for me.

I wore contacts for a year but just got tired of them. I'd often wear them over night or get severe dry eyes and it would hurt. I just gave up.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

In HS I always thought glasses made me look smarter so I would just buy a pair of cheap ones at Shoppers and pop the lenses out and just wear the frames.

It was the grunge era okay... we were allowed to look stupid!

Well, I still can't parallel park my husband's car but they gave me a Georgia license anyway!

Now for my next adventure: getting the car registered here.

I've considered LASIK as well...my eyes are really bad! If I dont have my contacts, things that are 1 ft infront of me or less is blurry. However, I hate wearing glasses. I have small frame glasses and I hate that I can only see whats in the lens in front of me, and the surrounding is blurry. I get tunnel vision quite easily and refuse to wear huge glasses. So this means I wear my contacts for up to 16 hours a day. First thing I put in, last thing I take out. I'm sure this is damaging my eyes even more!

Is anybody willing to share their script? I'm at -5.5 in both eyes for my contacts, and I believe my glasses are even worse! (at my last check-up, 3 years ago anyways. Its probably worse now)

I'm -6.25 in both eyes. Everything near and far is a blur. I wear contacts most of the time, I don't like glasses at all they bother me. So I only wear them at night before bed really.

1 of the best places in the world to get LASIK is in Colombia! World leaders in it and much much cheaper!!!

Colombia, as in South America or District? DC isn't far from me!

Nope, not DC,lol I know people that for work get down to Columbia, and if they need LASIK, thats where they get it!! LOT cheaper! Belive it was actually engineered by a DR in Bogota Columbia!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

It's only about $1000 in Calgary - how much cheaper can it be that anyone would travel to Columbia?

Yeah but I thought we were talking about cost. A trip to Columbia would be lovely.

Alot of women go to South America for plastic surgery too, I hear it's way cheaper than the US.

Brazil. Apparently, that's where all the best cosmetic surgeons are.

Maybe I'll go to Brazil and get some new bubbies
