Oh I thought of you there because weren't you the one that mentioned Mrs. T's perogies? Anyways they were $2 for a box of 12 so I picked some up! Normally I don't stray from Wegmans perogies (those are my fave) but I figured I'd give Mrs. T a try!

So, this morning before I got up I kept hearing the mother cat outside calling and calling. When I got up and went out to feed her and the former tom cat and her kitten - the three that are hanging around the back yard - the two adult cats show up but the kitten is no where to be seen. I search the bushes and around the area where the kitten has been the last few weeks and nothing. The mother cat keeps wandering around the back porch meowing for the kitten as well. Great, I think, something has happened to this kitten as well! I start looking to see if I can find a body or signs of what might have happened, but nothing. I volunteered this morning for a summer camp programme so I got ready in my period clothes (ala 1800!), loaded things in the car and just reluctant to leave, I took one more trip into the back yard. From the side yard I look and can't see anything, and then my eye catches the open drain that is in the back yard for all of the hill run off - the drain that is connected to the sewer. I go over and look in - and there looking back at me from the curve in the drain about 18" down are a pair of blue eyes in black fur. I reach and pull out the kitten - wet and sorry looking- but alive and alright! I take him over to the food dish and put him down, and Momma cat comes running and they touch noses. So, finally, I leave for my commitment and mamma cat and kitten are both washing kitten drying off its fur. My mind shudders to think what would have happened to the kitten if I didn't do that last look around and see the drain. I have since covered the drain and will work out something to keep it safe but also allow the water to run off. When I came home, the kitten was hungry again - and looked nicely fluffed dry.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Have you ever read the Wal-Mat Effect? I'd NEVER shop at Walmart for anything. This could be a WHOLE new thread! There is a reason that they are a lot cheaper than the average grocery store...you could probably save $2.00 on a whole grocery order! You really need some more info on how this whole Walmart idea of cheap groceries really does a disservice to the community as well as the manufacturers of some of the goods. Read up on the Vlasic pickle scandal!

Thank you so much carla! I was just thinking the same thing.

Walmart is evil guys. There is tons of information out there for you to read up on! I know we're always trying to save a buck these days but it shouldn't be at the expense of the store employees and workers in China and other under developed nations. There is also a movie about it:

the pickle story,lol--refresh my memory---but I believe Walmart pretty much forced the pickle people to sell their product at such a low low price to walmart, the pickle people made very little or lost $$ on the deal!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

No debate but it's good to read up on things and learn. Some people think walmart is the greatest thing in the world, it is the hand that feeds to some. But there are so many disgustingly disturbing and sad things about it. I mean for one, they took out secret life insurance policies on their own employees and collected the money when they died. Who the hell does that!? They profited off of their own hard workers deaths. Ugh. It makes me sick sorry and that's all I will say. :(

Basically they made vlasic sell their pickles at an insanely low price. There goes vlasic's hard earned image, there goes their profits, there goes their jobs... and walmart gains everything in return. It's like a giant monster.

Maybe that's why vlasic's pickles are not very good.
