My father is very excited today. He just sent me an email because he's finally been able to set up a voice scholarship at the Bermuda School of Music in my mother's name.

My mother had a wonderful voice and took voice lessons up until she got too sick to continue. She participated in choirs, concerts and musicals throughout her lifetime. She gave up any chance at a career in musc when she decided to marry Dad and live with him in Bermuda.

I bet my mom is smiling right now.

Awwwwwwwwwwww. That's so wonderful, Catherine.

Yesterday, I went to check out a rental house and the landlady, hugged me 3 times. I do not come from a huggy family. It was very awkward. I mean, she was nice and genuine, I think she's really needing to rent her house.

You reminded me when I first moved to Vancouver.

All that hugging and I was a stiff board.

I adapted and am a huggy person too now.

They infiltrated.

Hee, hee!

Ah, what a lovely tribute to your mother, Catherine - and how sweet of your father to do this. I have a friend who created a Univerfsity scholarship for Canadian History in memory of his wife who passed away a number of years ago. The scholarship has been well received and used ever since so I know your mother's name will live on in this legacy.

Sprailenes - getting flowers is always neat - I end up buying my own because Joe is not the romantic kind of guy. Still, he gives me lots of other things all the time for no reason at all so I am ok buying my own flowers:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Can I apply for the scholarship?? I'm a great shower singer!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We need new desks - for our computers that is - so I have been shopping around on and off for a long time, because I don't really want a run of the mill desk.

Anyhoo, I was saying to Mike the other day - why do we all sit at our computer desks, at home, like little soldiers - or office workers. Why is the home 'office' desk so popular anyway?

Why aren't we sitting in recliners with lap desks sipping cocktails?

You're SO right!!! Can you find a good lap desk anywhere? I have no lap, so it would have to be a good table.
