so Sprailenes - no, the jar of minced garlic doesn't have HFCS - just garlic! That is what we use - but I loved your story about the garlic press!

Well, more on the cat saga - the cat that the Atlanta Humane Society wouldn't take because she has been a stray too long is currently safely in the garage set up with a bed, a litter box, food and water waiting for her spay appointment tomorrow. I was worried about when she would show up and while I don't like keeping her confined in the garage this long, I don't want to risk her not being around for her appointment tomorrow. I will worry tonight about her as it is to go below freezing and the garage isn't heated but she has lots of cozy blankets so hopefully she will be fine. I was thinking she might be upset being stuck in the garage - she's been there 1 1/2 hours so far - so I went to look. She has made herself perfectly at home on the old sofa there and was sleeping with her paws drawn up under her chest. Phew! She is definitely pregnant again - just starting to show - so at least now she - and we - won't be saddled with more kittens. I am still looking for a home for her and suspect it will be easier with her spayed and vaccinated. She is such a nice little kitty and so friendly. She deserves a good home.

Yea the HFCS was me being sarcastic because of all the debate going on in the vent thread. :P

Awww your cat stories break my heart! I wish I could keep a cat but I am sooo allergic. You have a heart of gold!

Kathryn, you're going above and beyond what most people would do in the same situation! I hope the kitty finds a loving home.

As Bob Barker used to say, "Help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or nutered!"

A couple of weeks ago Mike and I broke the garlic press because I had this bright idea to try pressing ginger in it... it was a quality press but the handle snapped off.

So yesterday I am at the grocery store and I pick up this garlic press that was $7.00 and I decided to buy it.

Mike looks at it and says hesitantly: "Well.... I guess that will do.... for now"

I thought, how great would it be if that garlic press lasted our entire lives! And I told him that... "You watch this 'cheap press' will last us forever! We don't need to spend an arm and a leg at Williams Sonoma for the same thing!" and I was quite pleased with my find.

Well, anyways, we bring it home and I get the first clove of garlic to press it and... SNAP the thing breaks in two.

Mike just looked at me and said: "Aww that was supposed to last us our entire lives"

have you been going to the gym?

here's the special coffee, straight from my photobucket.

I know, I like little kittens too - but I am having a hard time finding a home for Momma cat - and her last litter of kittens - the 4 that survived - are all feral. If she had more kittens outside they too would be feral and just add to an already difficult situation. So, Momma cat is now at the vets and I will worry about her until I know everything is alright. I had to sign that I decline all of the 'extras' as well and I feel so guilty for not springing for them, but the cost of this alone is enough, even with the discount they offered. She did alright in the garage overnight and she will have another day in the garage tomorrow after I pick her up, then back out with the rest of the colony.

Awe Kathryn.. what a decision to have to make.. you did the right thing.. honest.. :)

My mother had a very different way to deal with extra kitties.. it wasn't very humane or nice either :(

When they're in that cycle of getting pregnant and having kittens, it's almost impossible to catch them between pregnancies. I admire everything you're doing for this cat Kathryn. She's so lucky to have found you!

I received something very nice in the mail this morning .... my green card!!! Yay!!! That was a lot of work, worry, money, upheaval for a little card that's not even green. Though they did provide a nice little envelope to keep it safe as a little bonus.

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice in this process. It's been harder than I ever thought it would be. Now I feel like I can relax a little and get on with my life.
