Hi all,

We found out by email on Friday that our interview is scheduled for today/tomorrow, December 17. Apparently that did not give them time to send out a packet 4 for us--it's no where to be seen.

Can anyone tell us a.) what was in the packet, and b.) how essential it is for the interview?

Thanks!!

ok this is what i got

cover letter which has the date ove interview and time on it, i believe i need to take it with me to interview and hand it to someone when queing, to prove i have interview that day and when. i would imagine they say what they want you to do in the email? do they want you to print it off?

then ytwo sheets of which are only three sides covered.

stating please present your complete appointment letter to security guard in order to be admitted to embassy, you will not be admitted more than 30 mins before your appointment, and arrive too late and they may cancele your appointment.

and you should expect the whole process to take 2 or 3 hours.

dont take electronics with youthere is a link on there about left luggage storage facilities which is on the embassy website.

if you havent had your medical already organise it, they need this done to before they can approve visa. stuff about no assurance can be made about getting visa.

delivery of visa is £14

docs required for interview passport court record birth cert military record adoption cert 2 colour photographs

deed poll/proof of change of name evidence of support eg form i 134 marrage, divorse, deth certs, certified translations police cert. the colour photos have a star next to them saying one for interview and one for medical.

all docs except passports and photos must be submitted in single copy with the orignalif you only have the orignal of your birth cert you may submit a copy but must brinhg the original with you for inspection

originals will only be returned to you if you furnish one copy in addition to original

visa app fees $131.00 per peraon regardless of age.

may be paid for in cash certified money order or by credit card (amer express diners club, discover, mastercard or visa) only

Your email takes the place of the appointment letter.

This is the list of documents http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/docs169.html but you should already know that

Make copies of things you want back, like your birth certificate. They will examine the original and keep the copy for the file.

You don't have to copy your passport. You get it back with the visa inside.

2 passport photos must be US sized.

Check your keys, cell phones, and any electronics at the Chemist down the street before you get in line.

Take cash to pay for the visa and the courier. They take pounds or US dollars for the visa fee. Courier is pounds.

Phew--that is a HUGE relief! We already have copies of everything and cash (both $$ and ££), thanks to VJ. I can go to sleep much more easily now!

Thanks again for all the help--we really, really appreciate it. Hopefully we'll be back on tomorrow with good news...

I only had to give in 2 color photos on Tuesday. The 3 they request is including the one you need for your medical.

2 photos for embassy and 1 for medical. They stick it on your medical form. Knightsbridge will take the smaller British size photos. Nick had several and offered her both sizes. She said she preferred the smaller one. The US ones don't fit the form they give them, so she has to cut them down.
