Hello...

Fist post :innocent:

:help:

I have gone through the K-1 process completely on my own... :reading::reading::reading:

I have an interview for my Filipino Fiancée the first week of January 2009.

My immediate question is does anyone here have exact instruction to fill out I-134?

Specifically line 11 ?

Before finding this site, I found and used VisaAmigo which instructed as follows...

Question 11. Check the box next to “Intend” indicating that you intend to provide financial support for your fiancé. (*Even if your fiancé may eventually be able to financially support herself you should check this box.) In the space below write “ I will provide any financial contribution to support my fiancé .”

Now... a fellow petitioner that I am helping :secret: complete his forms is using Cherry Blossoms Inc They stated for his I-134 he should check the box that he does NOT INTEND to support for reason below...

You will be supporting your wife, not making specific contributions, such as paycheck. The second box is correct.

Can anyone offer the CORRECT answer here?

I am now down to the wire :clock::clock: if I need to create a new notarized I-134 and spend $$$ to express it to her again.

God Bless

Thanks

Thanks I appreciate the reply ... Yes I read the example before I posted ... I understand the example. But I also feel that because of the comments I listed in the space provided will say the same thing just in a different way.

I hope to also get some replies from others here that may have entered what I have as stated in my first post... and what was their results??? or maybe if any lawyer are on here.. can you please reply also???

I will create my time line in a few days for everyone to track...

Thanks

I just did this less than a month ago and had no problems/questions and my fiancee was approved.

I put "N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence) like the example form and checked "do not" intend.

(tried to edit my last reply, wouldn't work)

I put "do not" intend, because I will not be making specific contributions, but instead contributing whatever it takes to support my fiance.

To say that you "intend" to make specific contributions would imply that you will only contribute so much and I doubt that is acceptable.

My son put yes on line 11, and then explained that he would be responsible to see to it that her needs are financially provided for, as in room and board and incidental expenses.

Instead of specific directions, which are ambiguous for the I-134, think about what the consular officer is looking for, and that is evidence that the beneficiary won't become a public charge in the US.

My husband filled an I-134 "just in case". He put "do not intend", and explained that he is willing and able to serve as a back up in case of unforseen circumstances, but did expect that our son would be able to adequately provide for her.

Those who have gone through Manila may have better advice. Personally, I wouldn't sweat it. No one is going to come back and ask "did you make such-and-such contribution"?

Thanks Thia Mom... I also feel it will not be an issue because of the wording I have used “ I will provide any financial contribution to support my fiancée .”

After all... Don't we all support the one we love and marry ?

Anyone else wish to chime in... I would love the help... THANKS IN ADVANCE

Hello,

On my form I had put "intend" to make specific contribution to the support of the person (my loved one) named in item #3. It also states to provide the exact nature (I listed those specific contributions or items as I did below) and duration (lifelong support of my loved one) of the contribution.

In my opinion, "specific contribution" means not just a specific amount of money to contribute to your loved one but also your contributing (for life) a place for him to stay (your home together), transportation, food, clothing, and other expenses when your loved one joins you and does not have a job yet.

On the lines below #11, I had put a short and simple reason and again to confirm and assure to USCIS that I am marrying my loved one:

"I intend to marry Ronie and continually provide room and board, clothing, food, transportation, etc... for him and his children for a lifelong support."

Well, my fiance is still going on his interview in Jan. I hope and pray that my answer is okay.

Good luck to us all!!!

The answer in the example forms has worked just fine for most people. I could be mistaken but, the only time i've seen a problem is with that answer is only certain CO's in London.

We put that we do not intend and got through fine like most others.

We put "Intend" and followed up with "including but not limited to visa expenses, travel expenses, airline ticket costs to and within USA, lodging, boarding, incidental expenses, and medical insurance"

 I think they care about the W2's, paystubs, and bank statements a LOT more than they care about question 11

i don't get it.

Thanks Kim&Russ

I am wondering if I "need" to change?

I feel I will be OK because I indicated I will support her financially in any way needed ( as a good / responsible husband should ) and I never commit to a monetarily amount or time period.

It should be understood as a K-1 applicant :secret: we will marry :secret: ... and complete support in every way should be one of the basis for any marriage... Or else... why marry at all???
