Hmm in my opinion the seminar is useless, basically what they teach you is what to do in the event your husband or future husband abuse you, physically or emotionally, the lady who conducted mine has this piece of advise to all of us who were present at the seminar. "Call 911". Big Deal! I think they just want the 750.00 PhP per Filipino who is to marry a foreigner.

Yup!!! That's what I think too... Throughout these posts there is one thing that has been consistant, INCONSISTANCY!!! Some need to have all these papered requirements and pictures, others require nothing. Hmmmm, seems to me that if they were REALLY concerned, they would have the SAME requirement throughout ALL the CFO's. To me it's nothing more than a joke and what they really want is the almighty PESO!!!

My Fiancee just had her CFO experience... Wow, what we thought was JUST going to be a "Good to Know" and "Informative" event turned into partial interrogation on these women.

My Fiancee said that overall they were nice to her but were strict, pushy and sometimes rude to most others. I am NOT sure what this whole CFO thing is really supposed to be but when they start quizing them on my pants size and requesting pictures of us be left with them, it seems to me that its BS... As far as I know (And I may be wrong) CFO is not the convening authority on VISA's and who should and shouldnt depart the country. I COMPLETELY understand what I believed to be the idea behind this program, and that was to... inform the Pinoys traveling abroad and make them completely aware of all their options (A GOOD THING). But when they told my Fiancee that they want to have our picture and she had to go back home to get one for them to keep, I was thinking.. WOW.. do they have that much power? Sounds communist to me...

Sorry for my rant but... We just didnt realize it was going to be like this, kinda thought it was JUST an INFORMATIVE seminar.

Yes they would ask one or two pictures of you and your fiancee together. I don't think it's hard for her to give that to them? It is required and i gave them just one.

usually where I'm from, they wait till after a crime is committed before they get a "mugshot" of the suspect, not before. Its insulting and would be considered illegal, and over stepping their authority in most places. now a picture of the person traveling to put on the certificate would be more appropriate.

IMHO, THESE POWER HUNGRY WITCHES ARE NOT SEPPING OUT OF BOUNDS, THEY ARE RUNNING...

UNTIL SOMEONE CHALLENGES THEM, THIS WILL CONTINUE. POSSIBLE THAT PEOPLE HAVE ENDURED SO MUCH. THAT THEY WILL ACCEPT ALMOST ANYTHING. THIS ATTITUDE IS ALSO DISPLAYED AT THE USEM, BY THE PHILIPPINE NATIONALS EMPLOYED THERE. NOT TO THE USC, BUT TOWARDS THE BENEFICIARY.

Been to CFO too and yes they will ask for a picture but during that time I have no idea about that and good thing we have pictures together on my phone and that is what I've showed them. Yep they are kinda strict when it comes to requirement and what i really don't like about it was when they asked me several questions that to me it's a very insulting question.

what kind of insultimg questions?

I looked over the notes my fiance took when she completed her CFO...they instructed about airport terminal fees, luggage size/weight limits, and K-1 rules (must marry w/in 90).

I sent my fiance very well prepared with a folder containing everything we took to the embassy for our interview the next day, she had no problems.

Not sure you will get an answer as this posting is going on 5 years old. Plus CFO is not done at St. Mary's or PRISM anymore.

Here is some info regarding CFO:

CFO:

ALL exiting required to attend. There have been changes regarding CFO so for sure read through their website.

Update: Please check the schedule of the counseling session before proceeding to CFO because it is country-specific and the slots are limited only to 15 per session (two sessions per day) for Manila and 12 per session (only one session a day) for Cebu. It is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

CFO Online Registration Form: http://www.cfo.gov.ph/pdf/downloadable%20forms/registrationform.pdf Complete this and print a couple copies to bring to the CFO seminar, it will save you time.

Required documents & "OTHER DOCUMENTS" they ask for at CFO: copies of; CENOMAR (CEMAR and marriage certificate if married), certified birth certificate, bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together. From USC (copies of) - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common requests. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.

** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent. (Some are posted on VJ that they were not asked for this, yet others have been asked, so be prepared)

What mandate?

Are you talking about your fiancée, or are you talking about her child?

If you are talking about your fiancée, she has to complete the CFO seminar and get a CFO sticker in her passport in order to board a flight to the U.S..

CFO website - Fiancé(e)s

Children 13-19 years old have to attend the CFO's Peer Counseling Seminar.

Children 12 and under have to get registered at the CFO.
