Anyone with experience changing from K1 to CR1? Did you get a fast approval based in the fact that you were previously approved under K1, names checks and so on???

Your comments are going to be appreciated.

You do not "change". You withdraw one petition and file another. The second petition is treated no differently as a result of having filed an earlier one, at least for the USCIS stage. The Consulate will be aware of both petitions and may use that information as they see fit.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

It is not a change but a do over.... totally different process for adjudication.... name checks "time-out" after a period of time and must be redone... do not expect any assistance from a previous filing.

YMMV

It is just a family issue with the work authorization granted under the CR1, My fault for not reading about it before filing the K1 :crying::crying::crying::bonk:

Probably easier to simply use the K-1, enter the USA marry, and adjust status. File for EAD when adjusting status, EAD is part of AOS cost, the EAD will allow you to work.

But yes, priorities need to be factored when considering the different visas. If guaranteed work-auth upon entry is a big factor, then marry first and apply for CR-1.
