I am in kinda a different situation.. but doesnt mean I have not waited just as long if not longer..

I met Janak Feb 20 04.. Last visit I made July 05. .. Due to personal issues,, we have not filed K1.

We are on count down for a trip soon for him to Canada.. but he wont do that till he has his B1/B2 for USA.. he will have the interview after the holidays..

I think being a bit older.. and realizing we only have time.. we wait.. knowing what is best for all. that is including his children.. a son that has aged out..

So for us.. we have been waiting... Feb is our 5 year mark... .. I have learned to stop getting upset seeing others who have filed and gotten together with their loved ones.. .. I am thrilled for everyone.. and know. one day .. My Love and I will be together.. .. No one needs to understand our situation.. thus why I rarely talk about it..

We are waiting and in love just as those that have had the opportunity to file... our road is just a bit bumpier than most.. .. but that usually is the case when children.. and x's are involved...

Hugs to all... .. just remember.. one day you will look back at this time and chuckle... .. this journey is just a small stepping stone of many in your journey with your loved one..

Thank you so much for your encouragement, I really pray you can be with your loved one very soon.

I have to say, that after much prayer, and breathing, I am much more relaxed. I know that this is all in God's timing, but sometimes, I think I can help Him along, and that is absolutely ludicrous. So my fiance has helped me to also calm down, and just breathe. He thought, and told me, that I am going crazy, so I am glad to snap back into reality. I am very much an A-type personality, and tend to go off the deep end sometimes, so I am glad that one day I will be with him who is able to pull me back to the shores of reality. This separation has helped us grow in our relationship. Being a half a world a part, you can really do some soul searching. As I told my best friend the other day, I am learning things about myself, and my past that I have never confronted in other relationships.

So I guess what I am trying to say, is although I detest it, and tend to throw temper tantrums, I guess the waiting is trying to show me patience. I just wish I could hurry up and learn it, so I can move on, lol, but wait, that's not being patient, is it?

I was alwys under the understanding that if somebody came over here and met a US Citizen they could file i-485 packet and they wouldnt have to return to there own country, as long as they got married withing 6 months of filing fiance visa packer. thats how my daughter did it.

Having one come with intentions to stay is wrong... for us .. he has to be in Canada.. where we will get married and file the K3 from there.

EL .. yes he was supposed to be here MONTHS ago.. part of the long story... .. health issues.. .. he developed some psoriasis.. got infected.. was sent down to Hydrabad for therapy they told him 10 days.. ended up being close to 4 months.. after he returned.. his cholesterol was so elevated due to the oil he had to take for his therapy.. internally.. in September he had a minor stroke.. his speach was affected.. .. he is good now.. still tires easy but overall doing good. he is afraid of arriving here without all his Clients set for products.. so is hesitating a bit to get his b2 done. His Canada client is more like a co-invester.. so when he gets there is not the trouble... simply is me.. my nagging of when he will finally do it.. ..

I have been planning this trip down to suprise my parents for Christmas.. and Jan told me he would definaetly be there... .. I told him wouldnt be fair to just arrive and put him in the hot chair with momma.. hahah.. so Iasked for him to wait till I got back... He also misunderstood the visa timeline.. He thought that once he had his interview he had only like 30 days to use it.. I told him NOOOO once he has his B2 .. many times they give you a 5 or 10yr visa.... not a 30 day visa.. ... .. now that he understands a bit better... I am hoping come the new year.. he will have the interview scheduled and we will simply await some payments from his clients .. to get his plane ticket..

Hugs to all.. J

I think it was easier for us because my husband went from Pakistan to Uk on student visa and because he was in UK I think the process was a little easier. It took almost 8 months for the entire process. That includes AP.

I couldnt agree with you more - I'm so happy for those that are making progress and getting together with their loved ones...

I just stay positive and I know my turn will come as well. The road is long, but well worth the wait. I met my love in 1998 and due to financial issues was only able to see him in October 08, and it sure was worth the wait. We just have to be patient and stay positive (as hard as it may seem at times)

Everything happens for a reason, and when the time is right, everything will fall into place just perfectly. Life is not a smooth road, we have to get through the bumps and obstacles along the way, which only makes us stronger inth elong run.

Good luck to you all on your journey, and to you Janak & Janet I salute you for your patience and perseverence... your dreams will be fulfilled **HUGS**

You both speak with such words of wisdom and insight. I have a great appreciation for that. I pray that we will all be with our loved ones very soon. The wait is exhausting, but I am a firm believer that the best is yet to come, and there is indeed a light at the end of all of our tunnels.

March 8th will be 2 years ago that we applied for our K-1. We have been on AP for 15 months. The most frustrating thing about that is that they wont tell us why. No one knows what is going on, they tell us to be patient, it may take even years longer to finish, but my patience is gone. :ranting:

Wow, sheer craziness. Our denial just added at least another year until my SO can come, but on a brighter note, I am going to him on Wednesday

Joe and I have been seperated for a total of 4 years 2 months to be exact before we met again. And it had nothing to do with visa process, our whole visajourney was really smooth but we had to encounter other (financial) problems.

I am not complaining anymore, we are together for good now and this 4 year of seperation made both of us much stronger, made me more level headed and I learnt patience.

I guess I am not good with words and emotions, and I don't want to dwell into the past. It sure was one miserable period of both of our life, but its over now and I am looking forward to the life ahead of us.

Wow! 4 years?!?! I am so glad you two are finally able to enjoy your lives together. I am getting better at patience, but apparently I have not completely passed that test. This whole separation can either make or break the relationship. I am convinced we will come out stronger than we went in. God save us all.
