STUCK @ NVC for AP

I've been emailing the Auckland consulate for ages, and they sent me an email to say the electronic file had arrived. Based on that they sent an email to suggest a couple of possible dates for the interview, and we settled on the 2nd February.

Heavens..the package coming here weighs 8 lbs...now I know I didn't send in that much stuff ..must be a whole group of us. :D

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Do we know people here who were in AP at some stage of the process (or, more specifically, the NVC part), but still got their visas without problems?

We're beginning to think that this can't be a good sign.

Do we know why people end up in AP in the first place? Does something need to show up and raise flags, or is it actually, at least in most cases, just random? Like... additional checkup for a certain number of cases, which then catches the unlucky?

I just worry that, even though there is not A SINGLE THING we've ever done that could raise any red flags at all (legal or, actually, any basis at all), they'll find some nonexistent thing, turn it into a flag or a special note and just have us get denied at the USEM stage.

I really hope I am worried for no good reason at all, other than getting angry and impatient. =/

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Yeah, Kim and Russ I already know about it. Am hoping that more people will pop up.

As for the worrying, it's not just that. It's just disgusting. The whole process alone, let alone all the unknowns and indefinites. After all, I guess it's not that easy to import a cow, heh.

There are literally tons of couples here that were stuck in AP that are now together. When we were stuck I researched loads of posts from all over and found many people who had been held up for the same reason that are now together with no problems. ;)

Usually, right when you're about to receive your NOA2 is the absolute worst emotionally because you've already been waiting so long.... but to then get stuck at NVC after all that is just like a slow torture. An emotional roller-coaster. I'm a strong peson but I clearly remember going over all of the options 'just in case' as well. The truth is that it will end and you will be together. It's just a matter of when. :)

Do stay strong ...I hope the rest of you waiting hear something asap! :)

Yeah, this kind of waiting is really horrible.

I mean, we weren't really thinking we'd get denied at the USCIS stage, I have to admit. Then the NOA2 came a lot sooner than expected. Awesome. Now the case is 'lost' at NVC (or Washington?!?) and... it's eating us alive. Not because we're waiting some more (we wanted to reschedule the interview in the first place), but because we just dont' know anything.

As for the 'just in case' options... we can't really think of any. If we get denied... ugh.

EDIT: My fiance now wants to know what those 'just in case' options actually are. :)

I know at the time my only concern was getting through Vermont. Never occured to me we'd end up at NVC for as long as we did. The uncertainty is a real stress.

Our plan B was that I would go home to Canada, and he would go there. Would have separated him from his family though, and he would have really been unhappy to leave his grandchildren.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I just rang and asked if it had been sent to the embassy and she said "Yes Ma'am it was sent on Monday the 12th"

I am so happy I'm crying! one day short of the 6 weeks when they sent it.

I hope the rest of you have good news soon
