My case has been at NVC since June 14. Should I be worried about AR or AP or FBI checks?! The majority of cases listed on the K1 visa timeline go through NVC in a matter of days, I thought mine was already on its way to the consulate until I called them this morning and found out that it's still at NVC.

what is the nvc say to you? does it say AR/AP???

I called NVC again today, and the operator said our case is under "additional processing, and unfortunately I can't give you a time frame for when it will be done". I then asked if additional processing is a standard process for all cases going through NVC, and she said "yes, it is normal for some".

All the previous comments about NVC in this thread are so true, from the ambiguous replies to a lack of processing time guideline. It's very frustrating.

Does anyone know why the NVC would have my file for over 2 weeks? I see for most cases that the NVC only has the file for a couple of days. I have called a couple of times and they keep telling me my file is receiving some additional processing. What could that additional processing be? Does anyone know?

could be a number of things.. been married before.. that often causes them to check the validity of the divorce... govt security clearance holders sometimes get checked out... and name checks that came up in USCIS also get redone or additional checks done at NVC... in any case.. its usually less than 4 weeeks to get done now...

Our file was at NVC for "additional processing" since June 14 as well, but I just found out that they've sent it off to the consulate on June 30 :) I'm not sure why certain files are selected for AP, but it sounds like if NVC tells you your file is under AP, you can expect a standard processing time of 2-4 weeks, and they're pretty good about sticking to that time frame. So your file should be out of there soon. Good luck!

Thank you for your help and your response. It was very encouraging. This is a great site so you are not left in the dark without knowing wht is going!! Well, after 24 days at the NVC my case finally was sent to the embassy, so hopefully we can get an interview date in August. I hope my prayers are answered.

I did not know the information that you stated to me and sure enough, a couple of the issues you mentioned do apply to me so that may of been the hold up. Well it looks like I am now a member of this group :(NVC received my case on 7/13 and I had some issues with the embassy and needed it to be changed. When I called back today the girl told me it was going thru AP, when I asked if it was standard she said sometimes. Then I asked if she knew if it was for background checks or what and she was clueless, but she did say that since my case was being worked on because of the change of embassy it probably slowed thing down and they just need more time to process now. Not sure if I believe her or if she was just trying to make me feel better; does anyone think that this could just be a small delay because of the change of embassy I had? Also, for cases that go thru AP at NVC, I wonder if it makes them more likely to go thru AP at the embassy level or do they usually have a good outcome after the interview? If anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Mandy
