Thanks Jack. I sent it to them last night. Actually I wrote two songs :) Sent them both. And that's a great idea to have them stow my guitar... never thought of it. Maybe you're right... if I show up with a guitar they might be interested in seeing me for sure.

Very nice song Ralph. Thank you for sticking your neck out and sharing. I would never have the guts to post anything like that on the very un-kind You Tube.

yes... they can be rough... but I don't promote myself. I just use it as a creative outlet and to show as a sample to get coffee house gigs :)

There was a case which I knew one year ago. This case was denied and sent back to US. The husband took a trip to Vietnam, he made everything to make an appointment with a CO in HCMC. It was lucky that the time he got there, their packet was still not sent yet. He asked an appointment for an interview. His asked was approved by chief of HCMC. Both of them were interviewed sepearately. They prepared every evident very very carefull and showed proof of relation ship to CO very good. This couple was approved again. If you have a chance to visit HCM before your paket sent back, take every change to ask an appointment. It is not sure you are susscessful, but it is still a chance.

My decisions seem to change with the wind. I'm not going. I'm going to finish a letter that I'm writing arguing the points listed and ask for a meeting and state that I am willing to travel at a moments notice. I will fedex it tomorrow and pray for the best. I did talk to an assembly person that I know here and she said that as fare as they are concerned over in VT, the case is closed. She said wait for a letter. As soon as I get the letter let her know and she will help me get in touch with my congressmen and or senator. She said I have a better chance stating my case here than in VT. With a letter from congressmen and or senator may help move the case up a bit.

I do plan on going back for my birthday, so that will help. I will gather all my evidence and make my case. If all that fails... then I will go and stay for a while... get married and start this whole ####### all over again. I'm so exhausted I can't even think straight anymore. Do I go... do I not go... do I say screw it and leave my job and stay with her for the winter (love that idea... NJ is getting frickin cold.) Well... stay tuned. I may change my mind again tomorrow :)

this sucks. So going there will not really do anything then? When it gets sent back to the US, it says I will have a chance to rebut the decision. Has anyone every had that opportunity? Or do they just deny it.

I think I'm going to finish out the year here... then I'm going over for a while. I really don't have anything keeping me here... So I'm heading over and we will get married. We also want to try and have a baby since we are both getting up there in age. So... I guess I will not plan on leaving right away.

I went full circle with thse folks, returned my petition, rebbutted the CO findings, goop-up at the second interview, fought another 6 months and finally won. Took 3 years, I'd do it again if I had too. If you love her you will fight on, if you quit, You never really loved this person.

What will you say to yourself 1, 2, 3 years after that first failed interview.. Damn, I should have stuck with it!, What are you doing anyway? keep the fire burning, stay the course and keep living. In time, you'll say; I'm happy I stayed and fought because I WON'T give up and now she is home. =-) I did.

Best to you all.

Don

If you do go back to vietnam I think alot of the American CO's eat lunch at that Texas BBQ joint in Saigon. You may be able to have a chat with one if you can point them out.

Good luck.

Bruce,

The Consular Officers do eat at the Texas BarBQ and Steaks but do not like to be bothered. I can't say that I blame them as I would not want to be bothered on my off time either.

So go there with your SO and sit near their tabel. While you wait for your food have a conversation with your SO so that they could hear and see if any ears pop up. Maybe if the conversation is good and you seem like you are in need of help, one of them will introduce themself to you and then they will "want" to help. If I had known about this I would have eaten there a few times with Xuan just to see if I could get someone willing to help. I have found that in generial most people want to help if they feel you are worthy of their time and truly need help. At least in my experiance. Now if someone come up to me while I was eating and started to present their case I would do what I could to make sure it never happened for them because they were rude.

just some thoughts

I agree with you, I would not want to be bothered while having lunch either. But here is another approach to this idea, I believe the owner is an American guy. You could ask him if he knows of any Co's that have helped people outside the office. I guess you can call this networking. It can't hurt to ask.

Ralph,

If I were you, and I decide to going back to VN. I will go there, and give it a try. Lot of good thoughts in here. Like Jack mentions, just go there sit next to the CO, and get some information out from them. Hope they would able to help you out.

Just my opinion.

Give it a try, and it won't hurt.

Good luck.
