Pictures not Time-Stamped

This may be something I am worrying about for no reason...

The pictures I have compiled in an album as evidence of our relationship and engagement ceremony and trips are NOT time-stamped, BUT I put them all in an album where there is room to write captions, so all the pictures are captioned in my handwriting, but not time-stamped (meaning they don't have the date printed on them directly from camera option)

Will this be fine? Or should I reprint all the photos time-stamped?

I've never heard of anyone having a problem with such. We didn't have any time stamped and just had captions with handwritten dates. Some didn't even have dates.

Would be "nice" to have but not required!

Unless you are wearing the same clothes in all the photos, or it looks like they were all taken on the same day, you should be fine.

If the photos of the engagement ceremony look AT ALL like a wedding, don't use them.

We didn't have a single picture of us together at all. Time stamped or otherwise.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Timeline

I was worried about it myself as I was getting my K1 packet ready. My digital camera showed the date when the picture was taken yet when I printed the pics, I did not see the date. Apparently, my camera did not have the feature when it came to printing. Go figure. I did go to Best Buy and used one of the printers there and that printer had the option to show the date and it successfully did.

But when I went to Sam's Club, I realized you can put any date you want and any where you want it. Long story short, it does not matter as you can easily fudge the date. The boarding pass, pass port stamps can prove the meeting took place in the last two years if that is what you are trying to prove by putting the date on the pictures. Pictures are secondary evidence for proof of meeting in the last 2 years. I would not worry if I were you...

Good luck

No they don't look like the wedding pictures, but we do have those professional-type couple pictures from the engagement as well as pre-engagement prep pictures (getting ready, etc.) and engagement dinner pictures with friends and family...according to my culture, there is a big difference between how a marriage ceremony and how an engagement ceremony looks, hopefully the London embassy will know the difference also. There are also lots of pictures from various trips we all took (my fiance and his family and relatives) while I was visiting him as well. But besides pictures we have other evidence, including lots of primary as well as secondary evidence...so I guess we should be okay...

But just out of curiosity, what can trigger a red flag for the embassy when it comes to differentiating between engagement ceremony and wedding ceremony pics? I know in lots of cultures the wedding and engagement ceremonies look the same in pictures...unless the marriage is registered (and I am sure the embassy would have a way of finding that out through the system) they should not be doubting whether its a marriage or engagement.

I know, the primary evidence is more important (passport stamps, boarding passes, ticket receipts, etc.) but since my fiance is on a student visa in the UK and originally a Pakistani citizen, I would rather give the interviewer at the London Embassy loads of evidence including all pictures we have, rather than leave them out, as they would also help in satisfying the interviewer...I don't want my fiance to face any AP or something like that, so i am trying to cover all bases.

A photo of your fiancee in a wedding dress can trigger a red flag.

They don't find out anything or look anything up themselves. You have to prove/document everything for them. Sometime they require the applicant to bring a document from the local marriage registrar that they have NOT registered a marriage.

I see, well, thankfully I do not have to worry about that, the fiancee is not wearing a wedding dress.

I was just reading a case in which the bride was wearing a wedding dress in the pictures but they had an engagement party just like a full-blown wedding reception and did not run into any problems because culturally it was understood that an engagement party may resemble a wedding party in that region of the world. The applicant included invitation cards and congratulation cards from friends/family that specifically stated that it was an engagement ceremony, so I guess that helped them.

The recent one in Vietnam, probably. But you can also find cases here where it caused problems as well.... as long as it doesn't appear to be a wedding, you should be ok.

me and my bf are getting ready to apply the K-1 in Jan 2009. We have many photos that were taken a few years ago but almost none for the last 2 years. Is it too late to start taking pictures now? Is it better to delay our application to make enough pictures? Thanks a lot.

Photos are secondary evidence. That said, time stamps on photos add zero value to the K-1 process. All the best to you.

Edit to add: Avoid submitting any photos that infer marriage, to include "engagement ceremony" photos. USCIS personnel generally do not understand this concept.

Pictures are considered secondary evidence, and one of the requirements to file the I-129F is that you and your fiance must have meet within the two years preceding the date of filing. It does not matter for the I-129F if you have pictures from a few years ago, you may add that to your evidence at the interview to prove a bonafide relationship, but as far as the I-129F is concerned, if you are going to include pictures as evidence that you two have met, the pictures should be within the two years prior to filing. It is not too late to start taking pictures. Also, please remember that pictures are secondary evidence, you should be sure to have plenty of primary evidence, which includes but is not limited to: boarding passes, flight ticket receipts, passport stamps, hotel booking receipts, etc. from trips to see each other, and so forth. It is not a good idea to delay your application just for the sole purpose of taking more pictures. If you have enough primary evidence to prove your relationship for the I-129F, you can file immediately.

Hmmmmm... mine.. don't have also... But what we did, we print screen the picture in the computers where date when it were taken show. So together with pictures, we print the file with dates showing when it was taken.

But I guess it really doesn't matter because for sure you have plane ticket stubs and stamp in the passport.
