Canadian rock icon Kenny MacLean - best known for his stint as bassist with the multi-platinum-selling '80s new-wave band Platinum Blonde - was found dead Monday in his Toronto apartment.

Local police have released few details, but early reports suggested the 52-year-old bassist succumbed to a drug overdose and was found in the early afternoon by his sister. The musician apparently died sometime over the weekend after a performance Friday at the Mod Club, a popular concert venue and night club in the city founded by his former band mate, Platinum Blonde singer Mark Holmes.

MacLean was at the club to celebrate the release of his third solo album, titled Completely. The songwriter and performer, who has been a key figure in the Canadian music scene for more than two decades, lived on Toronto's busy Yonge Street, where he ran a music academy and studio out of his home.

Police are continuing to investigate his death

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I saw Platinum Blonde in concert as a teen and I saw them a few years ago at a club in Edmonton- it wasn't the original 3 though. It was Mark Holmes and 2 other guys from TO. We got invited back stage and met them. It wasn't the big deal it would have been years before though :) Mark Holmes looked pretty rough- he was incredible gaunt and kinda sickly looking actually.

I still like their music- I have a few CD's kicking around here.
