got this in email this morning......

Dear Mr. Hall:

Senator Leahy has received your recent e-mail concerning your fiancée petition. You are correct that these petitions are currently on hold pending regulations and guidance from USCIS Headquarters. IMBRA, which stands for International Marriage Broker Activity, was a provision that was signed into law in January with an effective date of March 6, 2006. I understand from USCIS that they have completed revisions to the new Form I 129F Petition that reflects the new information that must be collected. This form is now subject to review by the Office of Management and Budget. USCIS has requested emergency approval of the form so that these applications can move forward. We are working to accomplish this as soon as possible. As soon as I have more information, I will be back in touch with you. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me in the Senator’s Burlington office at (802) 863-2525.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Bolduc

Again, the people who could influence the process appear not to have a full understanding of the problem. Approving a revision to the initial application form has little to do with those who have already filed their applications. What about the backlog (that continues to grow)!

I think that is great news! Thanks for sharing! So maybe the petitions that are on hold with get an addendum or something to move us forward soon.

hmmm just wished I knew how soon. Not knowing how long is my biggest problem.

Is the I129F draft only a draft because it needs to be approved? And this emergency request that USCIS is asking for is for the draft to be considered the new real thing?

If that´s what it is this is great news indeed.

I think they already know what they will be sending for the recalled/pending applications, and just need to know if the new form is ok with IMBRA.

I think as soon an the draft is approved they will be sending out whatever they want us to sign.

Let´s hope this will happen this week!

I just wonder why they didn´t change the status of my recalled application on their website.

Anyways, I think the new form will be approved this week.

This tuesday it will be six months that the president signed the IMBRA law...

And three months after they started holding petitions. That´s a lot of work for them and they sure want to get rid of it.
