Bank Balance for I-134

Hi All,

I have a question. How much bank account balance should my US fiancee have... to get the K1 approved? The form just specifies the income level... which has to be above the poverty line.

More bucks in the bank the better but NOT required. Main thing COs look at is most recent years income [iTR and W2s] and petitioners ability to support the emigrant

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Thanks! That's very helpful info. Just to clarify... Does that mean he can just attach the most recent tax return form and a letter from his employer?

A complete tax return would include W2 and/or 1099's and all schedules. If income is sufficient, you may simply leave blank all asset related questions.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thanks, that's very helpful. My fiance has sufficient income :) but I'm not sure if he has sufficient assets.

All of this is really Embassy specific as the I-134 does not have any legal standards to go by.

Most Embassies will use the standards set by the I-864 (affidavit filed at AOS) because you will need to meet these guidelines once you're here and married.

Normally, if you meet the income guidelines you do not need to supply bank statements and/or proof of any assets anyway. Some Embassies will require 3 years of tax transcripts but the standard seems to be 1.

good luck
