:energy: Has everyone put of their christmas trees?

I'm still looking for black ornaments. I'm trying to do a black silver and red tree this year.

Walmart had nice Black ornaments. I thought that was so odd...black ornaments. do you have a white tree. I put them next to the green tree and they disappeared cuase they were so dark.

we got ornaments last weekend. Copper, and plum. Goes well with the coppers in the house already. We get the tree this weekend. Monday night we decorated a wreath and placed it on the door, and put out the lit deer, and then we have to put the canycanes outside and the lights too.

I saw them last year at Walmart but they didn't have a pack that didn't have broken ornaments. I have a white tree. Husband picked it out. I've always been a fan of the regular green tree. I have no creativity in my bones. I'm an accountant by day. So I've been checking out what other trees look like in the office building and in stores.

You know to me it sometimes seems that American women are very intimidated by Jamaican women....just in general. I know for myself I was somewhat intimidated or at least quiet around them, but i think it was mainly feeling out of place on my own part....not because the women were doing things to make me feel uncomfortable. I find that JA women have a "rougher" or more serious look to their persona and thats very different from many American women. I think it makes them unapproachable or intimidating to people outside of that culture. But once you get to know them they really are very sweet women for the most part just going through their day to day. Jamaica makes women harder i think and that definitely comes across.

After I began to let my guard down around these women and I began to feel more confident being and acting or even looking a little different than many people in JA I began to really understand where they were coming from. I think many of them do see "farrin" women coming over and living what they may assume as "lavish". Hotel stays, partys, bars, clubs, beaches, pools, relaxing. Which should be fine....that farrin woman is on vacation after all. But when it comes to her coming and dipping into the JA man and acting a what they may consider "wild" with these men, and the men just loving it cause of course he's a man it bothers them. The women start developing an image that may be a stereotype but now its their reality.

Dont know if this makes sense. I'm just not focused today at work cause I have so much to do and have no idea how to even start....ever have one of those days? So I'm on VJ talking all kinds of craziness to try an stimulate my brain/. haha

Marlita - In some ways I agree with you - but I think it goes both ways - There is an intimidation factor on both sides, and a prejudice on both sides - Very often people don't let their guard down and take the time to get to know people -

I know that for myself - when I was 21 and first went to a step show with my girlfriends - I was very uncomfortable at first - and some women were nasty to me - Why was I uncomfortable? Because there were thousands of people there and I stuck out like Casper the friendly ghost! It wasn't anything to do with being intimidated by the other women, etc... it had to do with feeling out of place - and women were nasty to me that I was there to "steal their men" = Please! I was there because my best friend's bf stepped, and they asked me to come - nothing more. After a while, I was comfortable - because my friends treated me just like they always had - I was the one who had felt different, not them -

It isn't so much about American women being intimidated, Jamaican women being intimidated, etc.. the way that I see it - It's about prejudice, plain and simple - People prejudge people based on the actions of others - Some women go to JA and run wild - some JA women hate on tourists - But until people stop tarring each other with the brush of the one who came before - It's not gonna change.

I treat people for who they are, not what they are - I don't care if you are white, black, or purple - if I respect you, I respect you - If your a byatch - you are one regardless of what's on the outside -

For being out of it like you say Marlita, you actually articulated this very eloquently and I've often felt the same. But I also see your point, Sus. Sometimes I think my own guilt may be a factor in knowing that I've found a wonderful JA man and even though he's poor, I'm taking him from a potential woman there. Of course, he's also been burned pretty bad by his baby momma so he kinda stayed away from JA women and they him since he doesn't have much money.

oonuh waan si oonuh man get tek..lef him wid a Jamaican ooman wah want him...ooman a JA put on the "the face" cause they are fighting for their bread and butter their men..who provide for them..no matter how little it is

they are taught to hold on to what they have...but they say who know better do better

Who can blame them? If I were in their situation I'd probably be the same way!

I for one wouldn't mind if you corrected us when you see something. Or at the very least give us your perspective so we can come to a better understanding of things. We're grown people here and as long as something isn't stated with malice and rather with the intent to educate, it might be good to know what you think about some of these matters!

I remember feeling this way but not towards different culture but race. I love Tim McGraw. He is sooo sexy Lawd Have Mercy. Well last year I decided to go to a concert with him and Faith and showed up so happy. I soon realized I was the only brown person there! People were moving away from me and staring. The lady I sat next too held her arm with the other arm never touched me the whole show and kept giving me side glances. I felt uncomfortable but I would go again because I think some of it could have been in my head.

Intimacy, like charity, begins at home. If we cannot be intimate with ourselves, we have no way to bring to intimacy with another person.

Intimacy with ourselves takes time. We need time for rest, time for walks, time for quiet, and time to tune into to ourselves. We cannot completely fill up our lives with activities and become intimate with ourselves. Nor can we just sit quietly indefinitely and become intimate with ourselves. We have to have the time and energy to be our lives and to do our live in order to establish and intimate relationship with ourselves.

Surprisingly, as we become intimate with ourselves, we discover our connection with others

Intimacy....In/to/me/see...

Ells ur the bigger one

I feel the same way as Ells - I am sure others do as well -

On the same note, though - I have seen JAs on here JUMP down the throat of non-JAs because they made a negative comment about the police or something similar in JA - We speak from our own experiences and have a right to opinions - One negative comment about something doesn't mean we hate the whole country -

You know..I'm curious as to the things said that may be offensive to you ladies that are Jamaican. I know that I dont TRY to say offensive things...but hey I cant possibly know whats offensive to one person thats perfectly civil to another.

If you guys dont mind....could you state a few things that have been said that are offensive. No need to point the finger of who said it, just a general statement of what you found offensive. if you all dont mind. If this is gonna start a ruccous nevermind. :star:

Our building has a huge beautiful tree. It has magenta and gold ornaments on them. Very pretty!
