Okay, if my visa goes through, CR-1, and I make the move to the states and I QUIT my job to go there on my visa to be with my spouse, am I eligible for EI? Or if I'm already with green card, does this negate that?

Also, if you quit your job, are you still allowed to collect EI?

Thanks for you help.

Hi Deanna,

Reading the post by MrsCat in the EI topic (posted at the top of the Canada forum) will probably answer your question:

Yes you can collect EI while on a CR-1 visa, if the reason that you left your employment was to relocate with your spouse. You have four weeks to apply for EI once you've quit your job. However, I would recommend making the move to the US and applying for EI as close as possible to your last day of work. Lessens the stress of EI saying you left for reasons other than moving.

You can find more information here:

Your ROE doesn't necessarily have to say relocation with spouse as the reason for leaving employment, but I am sure that it helps.
