Hello , we went to VFS to submite all documents yesterday and something strange went on . The officer check all my document (photocopies) and asked for originals (all submitted to NVC) which i did not have at all, so further on he demanded the proof that i have submitted all the documents at NVC, luckily i had an envolope recieved from NVC which contained the ack letter for all my documents plus cover letter for interview, further more the funniest part was he was confused at how there could be 2 interview letters (1 from NVC and another from MUMBAI consulate) . Guyz i suggest keep a thumb rule to take each and every document u have with ur name on it or concerned with ur visa u never know what they will ask for.

Well bumping this thread because thats the same thing happened to me today.

I had my medical exam today and thought I would pay VFS fee and submit DS-230 forms, photographs, passport photocopy along with the interview letter...........and there I go and they demand for originals. I did say I have submitted them all to NVC, and according to NVC requirements if documents have been submitted to them, there is no need for further submission, so they are now asking for the letter from NVC or submit photocopies. I do have the letter, but didn't take it with me today to VFS, so planning on going down there again day after tomorrow and will show them that letter plus will also give out all the photocopies of birth certificate, marriage certificate and PCC's.

Seriously, these people should be given notice about new changes :dead:

I told my wife to take that interview letter from NVC to VFS office and they checked that letter and saw that everything has been submitted so she didn't have submit any originals. But VFS guys ask for originals because they don't only deal with spousal visa. In other category of visas, I think you still have submit all originals with them so they are just trained to ask for originals no matter what and they need some sort of proof to make sure that originals are submitted to NVC earlier.

People who have submitted at VFS, can you answer the following?

1) Can you share what were you required to submit at VFS?

2) What proof of relationship items did you submit at VFS? And were they willing to take it.

3) What documents do they look at for submission NVC letter, passport, anything else?

Thanks and good luck on your interviews!

Yeye,

VFS guys don't take any proof of relationship, only documents. You have to take proof of relationship to consulate on interview date. As far as I can say, they told me I should bring NVC letter (which I do got, but I thought it won't be necessary). So let me put 2 formats of what to submit.

If beneficiary is carrying NVC letter with them--- DS-230 forms (part 1 signed, part 2 unsigned), two 2x2 white background photographs, passport photocopy, letter from Consulate if possible.

If beneficiary is NOT carrying NVC letter-- DS-230 forms (part 1 signed, part 2 unsigned), two 2x2 white background photographs, passport photocopy, letter from Consulate is must, Photocopies of -- birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decrees, military services, any criminal record, both the PCC.

Note-- VFS office does have a photo counter and also Xerox machine in their premises.

No need to submit proof of relationship at VFS. You just take that personally to consulate. I was required to submit only copy of letter from consulate, medical report (only report, Not x-ray), copy of passport and two 2X2 photographs. The NVC letter clearly stated that they have received DS230 I and II from me so VFS guy didn't ask for DS230.

Hi,

A couple of people in this topic mentioned receiving an acknowledgement letter from NVC about the documents they submitted. When did you receive this letter?

Our case was completed on 1/22/09, just making sure that such a letter is on its way if I encounter the same issues with VFS.

Thanks
