What did you guys show at the gate to be allowed in?

Actually, now that I am thinking back...we didn't have it. We were never mailed an NOA2 and I had to go to battle with USCIS to get one for our AOS application. I was worried about it, but we were never asked for it at all.

We had the email I posted earlier, the original appointment letter with a different date on it (at that time they were sending packet 3 in the mail and it included a paper with your appointment time on it, but we had to change ours) and the NVC letter with his case file number on it. We showed the email to get in the first gate (explaining that the appointment letter had been for over a month prior), and after that I think we mostly showed the NVC letter that had the case file number on it, and/or the email.

Ok. For me i used the original approval notice. The embassy advised me to do so coz they do not send appointment letters to people living in Nairobi, coz the mail system is not the best. I was also told to download the Packet 3 instructions from their website.

Guess, its going to work with the email John got and a copy of the approval notice.

I got another reply saying that we will drop the stuff on the 11th of April and the interview on the 12th of April. Didn't get much else as a response. I guess my fiance now has 3 emails to take with her!

And they yet again sent another email to my fiance. They told her her that her dates were the 11th and 12th while at the same time they told her they don't send an appointment letter. Looked like an appointment letter to me! She also needs to bring the letter SHE got from the NVC. I am not sure they know what they are doing. She never got a letter, I did. I scanned it and had sent it to her already. Here's to hoping a scan is good enough! Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Hello everyone, I have a question about the medical. How far in advance does he get the medical? We are in the NVC stage. Also, do you know if they have a long waiting list, should we make an appointment early?

He can have his medical exam any time now since your case should be forwarded from NVC very soon. There wasn't a long wait time for a medical at all for us. We picked our own date about 2 weeks in advance, but I have heard of others getting theirs within just a few days. Good luck!

You always have time to do your medical before the interview. Once you know when your interview date is you can schedule a medical appointment two weeks before the interview. Its not advisable to do your medical too early.

I just talked to my fiance. She finished her medical yesterday. Everything went well with no problems. She scheduled her medical one week ahead of her interview. She did run into a problem while trying to pay her interview fee. The fee is no longer paid to the Commercial Bank of Africa. That changed 5 days ago. I wish they would update their site because we don't know who she is supposed to pay now. Frustrating!

Also. She never filled out a DS-160, but it looks like it is now required. Did anyone else have to have that form?

Seems so much has changed and now people applying for non-immigrant visas in Uganda have to go through a new system: http://kampala.usembassy.gov/pr_31032011.html. By the time we went for the interview in Nairobi, we needn't have to complete DS-160 (or the old appt form), we just called the embassy immediately after knowing the labs results and the interview was scheduled within the same week. The website also says the visa fees are from a commercial bank in Nairobi but when we went there, they told us they don't receive fees for K-1 visas and we had no problem paying at the embassy prior to the interview.
