I volunteered to take over the list from Stephanie... and thought it might be nice, with her permission - of course - to name the K1 Tracker Chris's List as a nickname (like there's an Igor's list). Not too sure what she thinks, but the nickname would be something we could use. Since the K1 Tracker she set up tracked K1s for Montreal only, I thought that might be kind of nice. Just my 2 cents worth of a thought....

I know we can't bring much of anything in with us to the interview... is a book or magazine allowed? How about a pen to do crossword puzzles?

Silly questions, I know. I sound like such a dingbat sometimes... but I don't want to be someone who causes a scene by bringing too much and then have to empty everything out... take out what I can... leave everything else... you know!! I would rather err on the side of caution! What was the line from the movie Pretty Woman? Hmmm... that's right... "I'm a safety girl!!!"

I'm sure they had to cut it off somewhere...I guess it is frustrating, being on the cusp...but how great is it that they seem to be moving so fast! We could have all been still waiting longer, based on how it was slower in the fall. When are you planning your move? Hang in there...IT'S COMING! :)

Saw this in another forum/thread and thought I'd share parts of it here.

From what others have said previously, this is wayyy more in depth than what gets asked in Montreal - probably b/c the countries are neighbors. But, in any case, thought I'd post just in case people want to be even more prepared. :P

This might help you: (http://www.ins-fiance-visa.com/ins-fiance-visa-process-consular.html)

INS Fiancée Visa Consular Interview

Before the issuance of the INS fiance visa, there will be an interview with a consular officer. The interviewing officer will question the beneficiary to determine eligibility for the visa benefit that has been requested. These are not trick questions. The questions and answers are very straight forward. There is no reason to be flustered or nervous. The interviewing officer is not trying to trick your fiancé(e) into giving him an answer to deny the visa. The interviewing officer will go over the information contained in the petition and the visa application. If there are inconsistencies in the documents, then the consular officer will want explanations to resolve these inconsistencies. The consular officer may ask for letters and pictures or other items to verify the validity of the relationship. The key concept here is love and the desire of the petitioner and beneficiary to spend the rest of their lives together. The following are some questions that your alien fiance may hear at the interview for the INS fiance visa at the consulate. Some of the questions will be based on the consulate's knowledge of the customs of the country where your fiancé(e) lives.

1. What are your fiance's hobbies and interests?

2. What are your hobbies and interests?

3. What does your fiancé(e) do for a living?

4. What do you do for a living?

5. Do you know if your fiancé(e) was married before?

6. Does he have any children?

7. Will there be a problem with the children from his other relationship?

8. Did you know that your fiancee was divorced in 199-?

9. Does this matter to you?

10. Where do you plan to live in the United States?

11. When and how did you meet your fiance(e)?

12. How long have you been corresponding with your fiance(e)?

13. Do you have any wedding plans? Are you planning to have children?

14. What is your fiance(e)'s religious background?

15. What is your religious background?

16. Does your fiancé(e) speak and understand your language?

17. Do you speak and understand your fiance(e)'s language?

18. How do you two communicate?

19. Why do you want to come to the United States?

20. Why do you want to marry the Petitioner? HINT-" Because I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him."

21. If there is a language difference, then how do you communicate?

Let's hope they keep going fast because only the last batch was giving interviews pretty quickly.

The moving: June so that would be great if we could get the interview in May. I emailed Montreal back in March and asked for a date before June 1st and they replied it had been noted and they'll try.

My fiance is coming to stay here in Canada for the month of May so he will be coming with me to the interview. I wonder if I should email Montreal again to ask for a May date since he could come with me...

Here's the funny part... both PopRocks and requested before June 1... and here we are mid-April. I wouldn't necessarily change your request - you don't want them to get frustrated with you and accidentally move your file to the bottom of whatever pile it is sitting in. What you might want to do, IF you are going to send another email, is put in a reason why other than just the wedding. For example, in one of my emails I mentioned that we wanted a date towards the beginning of June/end of May b/c I am a public school teacher and we are not technically allowed to miss any days at the end of school (we release in June) and it would be nice if he had the time to pack his items and complete any Canadian affairs he might have. In addition, I'd only call every 8 days or so... I didn't want them to think I was stalking them, although I was! kinda... :P Hang in there!!! Your date will come - honest! It is easy for me to say that now, b/c we have a date. But, that's what everyone else was telling me, and it is so true. You truly just have to hang in there. You'll see it from this side once you're over here on this side....... HONEST!!!!
