We are nearing the end of this long journey now. My wife just mailed back the checklist with all the documents the embassy asked for, I was just wondering if the embassy would notify her of her medical appointment date, or if she would have to set up the medical on her own???

There is no prior appointment that will be set for the medical exam at SLEC. She can go there at anytime preferably at least a week before the interview appointment at the USEM. Generelly, the medical exam could be completed in 2-3 days unless the applicant would have to undergo a sputum test or a psychiatric evaluation which will require longer period to complete. Tell her to bring the original copy of her interview appointment as the guard from SLEC will stamp the date of the medical exam on it. She also needs to bring her passport and a 2x2 picture and of course, the money to pay the fees. She will be asked to submit a photocopy of the interview appointment so it's better she has it before she goes there.
